Virginia Pros: an update from the Department of Health. Please find their survey request included below for Aquatic facility stakeholders. They've been great with outreach for years, happy to share this.
Dear Aquatic Industry Stakeholder,
In response to Chapter 53 of the 2026 Acts of Assembly, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is convening a stakeholder workgroup representing owners, operators, and interested parties of public aquatic venues.
Public aquatic venues are considered to be any swimming pool, spa or aquatic venue, including interactive water play venues and features, all appurtenant equipment, structures, and facilities other than a private and single family dwelling or residential swimming pool or spa, intended to be used collectively by numbers of persons for swimming or bathing. Examples include swimming pools, wading pools, wave pools, lazy rivers, surf pools, spas, spa pools, hot tubs, cold plunges, therapy pools, waterslide landing pools, splash or spray pads, and other interactive water play venues. The term "public swimming pool" also includes pools owned or operated by a condominium, private club or association of persons, apartment, or any association of persons.
Prior to the implementation of Chapter 53, a workgroup was convened to review and amend the Regulations Governing Tourist Establishment Swimming Pools and Other Public Pools (12VAC5β460) and the Swimming Pool Regulations Governing the Posting of Water Quality Test Results (12VAC5β462). The proposed regulations included with this survey reflect the commitment and hard work of that original public pool workgroup. To honor their vision for the future of public aquatic venue regulation, these proposed changes are now being shared with stakeholders for review and comment.
VDH invites you to complete the VDH Public Aquatic Facility Regulations Survey (also accessible via https://lnkd.in/eTArGXe7).
Please complete the survey and share it with anyone that you think would be interested or impacted by the proposed regulation. If you have any accessibility issues or need to ask a question, please email me directly.
Thank you so much for your time and attention to this effort.
