We have heard ALL of these and more from SO many of you.

If you’ve been told things like painful feeds, slow weight gain, endless nursing sessions, pumping struggles, or constant fussiness are “just normal,” we’re here to reassure you that you’re not crazy for feeling like something may be off🤍

We always encourage parents to trust their gut. Sometimes feeding challenges are common, but that doesn’t mean you should have to struggle through them alone or feel dismissed along the way.

We’ve supported many families who felt overwhelmed and close to giving up early on, only to find that with the right support and guidance, feeding became so much more manageable and enjoyable!🥹

Our goal is always for you to feel heard, validated, and supported — whatever your feeding goals may be.

You are never alone in this. Reach out anytime if you have questions or need support. 🫶 No question is too small and 1:1 support can change everything.

Today, we honor and hold space for all forms of motherhood 💗

To the mothers in the newborn trenches, the mothers who have experienced loss, the mothers-to-be, the grandmothers, stepmothers, bonus moms, foster moms, adoptive mothers, and those who mother through love, support, and presence….today is for you, too.

We know Mother’s Day can hold both deep joy and deep ache, sometimes all at once.

At Coming Home RVA, it is one of the greatest privileges of our work to walk alongside families during some of life’s most vulnerable and transformative moments. We see the love, sacrifice, strength, and tenderness that motherhood carries in all its forms.

Whether today feels celebratory, complicated, heavy, beautiful, or somewhere in between, we hope you feel seen and supported.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Coming Home RVA!

A quick heads up for our Coming Home RVA families 💕

We have limited availability this week and next due to spring break.

As much as we never want to step away from the families we are supporting, we also deeply value taking time to be present with our own families. Finding that balance allows us to continue showing up with the care, energy, and support you deserve.

If you’ve been thinking about scheduling a visit, we encourage you to reach out sooner rather than later so we can get you on the schedule.

As always, we’re here to support you through feeding, pumping, and all things postpartum - even during the busy weeks.

Send us a message or submit an inquiry to book ✨

Many people are told to take sunflower lecithin for “clogged ducts.”

But what we often call a clogged duct is usually better described as ductal narrowing caused by inflammation.

When inflammation narrows the duct, milk cannot drain efficiently, which can increase the risk of mastitis.

Sunflower lecithin can be helpful because it acts as an emulsifier and helps milk fats mix more easily, which may allow milk to flow more smoothly. However, lecithin does not directly address the underlying inflammation.

Choline supports several processes that are more aligned with what inflamed breast tissue needs, including supporting cell membrane health, helping maintain tissue integrity, aiding fat transport in milk, and playing a role in inflammation regulation.

If clogged ducts keep recurring, it may be a sign that additional support is needed, including addressing inflammation, improving breast drainage, and supporting overall breast and microbiome health.

If you are experiencing recurrent clogged ducts, breast pain, or inflammation while breastfeeding, working with an IBCLC can help identify the underlying cause and develop a plan that supports both breast health and milk removal.

Another year around the Coming Home sun ☀️

4 years of big ideas, lots of lactation & business talk, and a partnership that somehow works even when our husbands hear more about breastfeeding and pumps at the dinner table than they ever expected. 😅

So grateful for the families we serve, the team we’ve built, and the community that keeps cheering us on.

Cheers to year 4🥂

We fought, we petitioned, and we advocated and because of this work, lactation consultants in Virginia now have the opportunity to become in-network with Anthem.

After months of negotiating and helping Anthem develop a brand new process, Coming Home was the 1st in RVA to officially begin seeing Anthem families for in-home visits in January.

We are now seeing excellent reimbursement rates, often close to 100% (for 90 minute in-home appointments) and most Anthem families are no longer paying anything out-of-pocket for lactation care.

This is incredible progress for families in Richmond and across Virginia.

Thank you to everyone who signed our petition and supported this effort. Your voices helped make this possible. ♥️

**Coverage may vary by plan; while most families are seeing full reimbursement, we encourage you to check your specific benefits!
