These pieces began as Bay Area trees brought to us for recycling. Now they are part of this finished landscape in Pacifica.

Solid, all-heart redwood timber benches and stools milled at GWRY create the seating around the fire feature. Across the pool, a deodar cedar table was also milled at our yard, with our team completing the joinery and finish work.

This is what we love to see: trees that were discarded becoming lasting parts of Bay Area homes and landscapes.

We wanted to share an example of how custom-milled lumber from GWRY can become part of a finished project.

For this order, a homeowner worked with us to have redwood lumber milled to their specifications, then used it to build this beautiful new fence.

Urban trees are such an important part of the Bay Area, and it’s always great to see that material given a second life in something that will be part of someone’s home for years to come.

A great look at two sides of our operation and the team working together to keep it all moving.

On one side, Monterey Cypress logs are being sorted for a custom lumber and nature-play order, allowing the material to be reused at its highest practical value. On the other, brush and smaller wood debris that cannot realistically become lumber or finished wood products are being processed for biomass fuel.

Biomass gives this lower-value material a second life by using it to generate electricity rather than sending it to a landfill, where decomposing organic material can release methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Our team typically hauls out 4–8 semi-truck loads of this material every day using our own trucks and drivers, which gives you an idea of the scale of material we handle.

Different equipment, different processes, and one great team working together to make the most of every Bay Area tree.

Another nature play space is taking shape in Oakland.

We are proud to once again partner with KABOOM! and Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation on this project at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. Our team prepared and delivered Bay Area log rounds, climbing logs, benches, and other natural wood features, which an incredible group of volunteers transformed into a space where students can learn, explore, and play.

Giving Bay Area trees a second life is at the heart of what we do, and it’s especially rewarding when that second life helps create spaces like this for Oakland students.

Thank you to KABOOM!, Eat. Learn. Play., and everyone who volunteered their time to help make this project possible!

Happy to showcase another successful nature play project with & , with this one taking place at Oakland Academy of Knowledge. None of it would be possible without their amazing teams and volunteers. Projects like these are a big part of why we do what we do.

These Bay Area trees supported their communities before they had to come down, and now continue to do so through projects like this by being repurposed into spaces built for the next generation to enjoy.

In honor of the opening of the new Larkspur Library & Community Center, we wanted to share our contribution to the site.

These custom 6x6 posts were milled from salvaged Monterey cypress logs right here at our yard. We produced 90+ posts, added the angle cuts, drilled for the rope fence, and routed the openings so everything sits clean and functional.

They now surround the parking lot and community space, showing how urban wood can be reused in a way that’s both practical and visually strong.

Big thanks to .studio and for the thoughtful design and ex*****on on this project. Everything turned out great!

If you’ve got a project coming up, let us know. We can mill to spec, customize details like this, and help you build with locally sourced material. Send us a message or reach out through our website (link in bio).

For this project at Buena Vista Horace Mann K–8, we supplied nearly 400 linear feet of reclaimed redwood logs, along with debarking and milling to flatten the base of longer pieces, plus delivery to the SF site.

Angotti & Reilly, Inc. brought it all together, doing the finish work and turning salvaged material into a functional and long-lasting nature play area that will be used for years to come.

Projects like this help us to ensure that material taken out of the Bay Area will stay apart of the community in a meaningful way.
