The gophers are still enjoying some time off, but when the weather really changes they might be back eyeing your yard again. We are here for you if that happens.

This gopher was traveling from a neighboring yard, hidden behind bushes, and entering our customer's lawn to feed on the grass.

Gophers don't care about fences or property lines - if your yard has food, they will commute into it daily to feed.

We tracked it, trapped it, and removed the problem.

Have you ever wondered how a gopher suddenly appears in your yard?

What do you think a gopher can do to your mulched landscape?

Gophers are solitary animals, so one gopher can build an extensive tunnel system that leaves dozens of dirt mounds throughout a mulched landscape.

Besides eating plants, they can also damage drip irrigation lines beneath the mulch.

In this video, I show you how to read the mound patterns to locate the main tunnel. A couple of days later, we caught the large female gopher responsible for all this damage.

This is what happens when you wait too long...

A lot of homeowners think the gophers will eventually leave on their own.

Unfortunately, that’s usually not what happens.

It often starts with:
- one mound
- one tunnel
- one damaged spot

Then over time the tunnel system expands and the lawn damage spreads throughout the yard.

In this Riverside property, you can see how the activity kept moving across the lawn as the gophers continued feeding underground.

The longer active gopher activity remains untreated:

- the more tunnels develop
- the more lawn damage appears
- the harder restoration becomes

You probably have fewer gophers than you think...
---
A question we hear constantly:

"How many gophers do I actually have?"

A lot of homeowners assume every fresh mound means another gopher, but that’s usually not how it works.

In this Riverside yard:
- multiple fresh mounds
- digging in separate spots
- activity spread several feet apart
..but after checking the traps a few days later, there was only ONE active gopher.

Experienced gopher control is often about understanding tunnel patterns and activity behavior — not just counting mounds.

Have you ever found dirt packed inside your sprinkler valve box like this before?

Gophers will follow irrigation and sprinkler lines underground because they lead them directly to healthy, watered grass and plants.

In this Temecula yard, the gophers packed an entire sprinkler valve box with dirt from their tunnel system.

If you notice:

- dirt inside sprinkler valve boxes
- random sprinkler problems
- fresh gopher mounds in a line

gophers may already be tunneling along your irrigation lines.

Artificial turf doesn’t stop gophers - it sweeps the problem under the rug.

In Temecula, Murrieta and Riverside, we see this a lot where turf starts feeling uneven or soft due to tunneling underneath.

If your turf has gopher mounds around the edges and doesn’t feel solid anymore, there is already an active gopher below the surface.

Most people assume it’s a whole family of gophers... but that’s usually not the case.

In Riverside, we often see multiple gopher mounds in a lawn which tells us the story of what the gopher or gophers are doing.

If you’re noticing new mounds or expanding areas of lawn damage, there’s a good chance you have an active gopher.
