During the extreme cold last week we had a water loss job that experienced a fresh water burst pipe. These photos are showing how our moisture meter was reading red (indicating moisture on material in contact with meter). As we dug deeper not only was the drywall wet, the foam insulation as well as the batted insulation behind that was wet and frozen to the plywood outside wall! All affected drywall and insulation had to be removed, while wood studs and plywood were dried out using fans and dehumidifiers.

With the expected extreme cold temperatures and wind chills we suggest turning off outside water spigots for the Winter ...

With the expected extreme cold temperatures and wind chills we suggest turning off outside water spigots for the Winter if you haven't done so already. Even though "frost free" spigots like the one pictured are less likely to freeze and burst they still can and will make a mess. If you have a shut off in the basement behind the wall of the spigot, we advise you to shut it off just in case. If a flood happens to occur you can rent equipment from us or call us to extract water and dry out the area. Call 24/7 5853035015

*side note* make sure outside water spigots are shut off in basements or crawl spaces. The near record low temperatures for the next couple of days can be enough to freeze pipes and cause a real mess.
