Ya girl finally made it past the 365 day threshold!!!
One yr down! And self employment has been every bit of the journey they say it is. For me, it was filled cycles of doubt and reassurance, fear and “just make it happen!” and a whole lot of showing up for myself in a way that’s never felt comfortable to me.

What’s made me a great employee over the years is that my bosses goals became my goals and I worked hard to reserve time for yourself or your business when honestly, you could be making money! But investment is the name of the game.

But as the very faded sticker on my laptop says, “You did not wake up to be mediocre.” 🫰🏾

I don't want to brag here but I have lived a charmed life full of positive female role models. Because I live in America, most of my teachers were women. Throw in years of dance, some cheer, a little band and piano...same. So by the time I grew into the work force, I gravitated towards all of the things that made me happy. It wasn't until today that I realized just how huge both of these statements are. That I’ve been privileged enough to choose in that way and that I have been lead in this way. Most of the owners, bosses, and managers....female. So what does that look like? We're not subscribing to stereotypical gender norms over here so when I say this, I'm not just saying that I learned how to cook or clean or be sweet to people who were rude to me. It means that I'm so used to seeing women in positions of leadership that it never felt foreign to me. I'm so used to seeing us in leadership that it took me until today to understand that for some people, that's a rarity. The village that helped raised me was abundant in knowledge and character and it brings me so much pride to cater to the womxn I serve in my business. What a world. I wont go into all of the ways we still need to progress-this is me reflecting on my past and manifesting something even more beautiful for the future. ♥️
