WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MAIN STREET COMMUNITY?

Lakeview is proud to be an Accredited Oregon Main Street Community—and Lakeview Community Partnership is proud to be the organization responsible for leading that work downtown.

Accreditation is more than a title. It recognizes an established downtown organization with a proven record of planning, implementing projects, measuring progress and following the nationally recognized Main Street Approach.

In Lakeview, that work has already produced real results—from securing funding to purchase and restore the historic Alger Theater to creating downtown events, promoting local businesses and developing an updated plan for downtown’s future. Some of this work happens out front, while much of it happens quietly behind the scenes.

The Main Street Approach brings the community together through four areas of work:

• Promotion — sharing Lakeview’s story and creating reasons to gather downtown
• Design — improving and caring for downtown’s buildings, public spaces and appearance
• Economic Vitality — supporting local businesses and strengthening the downtown economy
• Organization — bringing together volunteers, partners and resources to move the work forward

On September 21, LCP will return to this four-point committee structure, giving community members a direct way to participate in Lakeview’s continued downtown revitalization and help turn the updated Downtown Plan into action.

Lakeview already has a Main Street. Now it’s time to bring more people into the work.
