One year ago yesterday, I opened Amazon and saw Total Soul Prosperity sitting at #10 in Women & Business.
I remember staring at that little number because this message had lived in me for years before it ever became a book.
It grew out of 3 John 2 and a conviction I couldn’t shake: God never intended us to prosper in one part of life while becoming impoverished somewhere else.
I had watched too many women build successful businesses while quietly losing peace, health, relationships, time with God, or the feeling that they were actually living the life they were called to live.
That ranking meant a lot to me. But what mattered more was knowing the message was finding women.
A year later, and right after the 14th anniversary of Prosper In All Things, I believe this more deeply than ever:

Fourteen years ago, I started Prosper In All Things while I was rebuilding my own life.
I could never have imagined where God would take it.
What began with a few very bold faith-forward events like God, Money & Me, God, Health & Me and God, Love & Me grew into years of teaching, coaching, Bible studies, programs, community, Total Soul Prosperity and hundreds of conversations with women who wanted to build profitable businesses without losing themselves in the process.
But after 14 years, one thing still surprises me:
Sometimes the breakthrough begins when someone helps us see what we cannot see from inside our own business.

Best part of my Tuesday wasn’t on my calendar.

I got to spend some time with my son tonight, and as we stood outside under this beautiful California sunset, I found myself thinking how easy it is to fill our days with things that feel urgent.

Work. Deadlines. Plans. The next thing that needs to get done.

And then there are the moments that remind you what actually matters.

Tonight, this was one of them.

Grateful for my kids, for time together, and for the ordinary moments that become the ones you remember. ful

Maybe it was because Build Like Jesus has been on my mind all week, but this stopped me at my kitchen sink this morning.

I had briefly blanched the almonds to make almond milk. With one gentle squeeze, the skin slipped off and the almond came through.

Nothing had to be added. What was already there was revealed.

I thought about how easily we build businesses by accumulation. Another offer. Another platform. Another strategy that worked for someone else but never felt right for us.

Maybe the next season of your business will not be built by adding more. Maybe it begins by releasing what no longer fits.

This week inside Build Like Jesus, we began releasing assumptions about what people need and learning to see, ask and listen the way Jesus did.

There was a time I would never have taken a Monday afternoon for Pilates.

I was too busy making millions.

That is not a boast. It is a confession.

I built my first multi-seven-figure business by waking at 4:30 in the morning, working seven days a week and treating almost everything else as secondary.

The income grew. So did the cost.

Today I drove to Auburn for Pilates with Linda Marie Brown . A few of us challenged our bodies, tried things that looked much easier than they were and laughed a lot.

I have not become less ambitious. I have simply stopped treating my body, relationships, peace and joy as expendable.

A business that only works when you overwork is not yet built for prosperity.

Jesus never taught us that exhaustion was the price of fruitfulness. He said fruit comes from abiding in Him.

The sandals weren’t really the breakthrough.

It was releasing another layer of rigidity and discovering the freedom to listen, connect and respond.

I believe God is inviting many of us to make that same shift in business.

What could happen in your business over the next 12 weeks if you truly began building like Jesus?

We were not talking about taking the same pressured marketing formulas and adding Christian language to them. We began examining how Jesus actually communicated, built trust, asked questions, made invitations, followed up, developed people, served, sold, led, and multiplied.
As the women began imagining what this could mean in their own businesses, the energy shifted. I felt it too.

You can know every step and still miss the person in front of you.
Wednesday night I went into San Francisco for a Cuban salsa lesson.
Partner dancing has a way of exposing how present you really are.
You can know the steps, but if you stop paying attention to the person in front of you, the dance falls apart.
I kept thinking about business on the drive home.
We can automate more of the steps than ever before. AI can write content. Funnels can organize the journey. Systems can handle follow-up.
Useful? Absolutely.
But none of them can build trust for us.
After 35+ years in business, I still see real relationships, good conversations, and thoughtful follow-up creating some of the biggest opportunities.
Jesus used structure too. Crowds. The 70. The 12. The 3.
But the structure served the relationship.

Zōē. That’s the Greek word Jesus used for life when He said He came that we would have life abundantly.
And I’ve been thinking about that a lot in business.
We can build, grow, achieve, serve, and still get so busy that we forget to actually live.
I’m heading into salsa tonight, and dancing is one of the places I feel completely alive.
So maybe the question isn’t only, ‘How is my business growing?’
Maybe it’s also, ‘Am I becoming more alive while I build it?’”
