Phase 1 on Knox Mountain, Ossipee NH.
Steep, ledgy ground and a winter start. The goal was more usable land around the house, and the terrain was the kind other crews pass on.
What Phase 1 covered:
Mechanized whole-tree land clearing through the winter on the steepest part of the property, feller buncher and skidder, produced by the acre, not the tree.
A haul road built to an onsite borrow pit to drastically improve efficiency and reduce overall cost in comparison to hauling from offsite.
An acre leveled behind the house and 3,500 cubic yards of material cut, hauled, and placed (that is on the order of 300 truckloads) in the front of the house to create more usable space.
Frozen ground on a job like this is an advantage, not an obstacle. Less rutting, cleaner hauling, and the work keeps moving while everyone else waits for spring.
Phase 2 is next: we went back with the CAT 340 excavator and the 735 rock truck to move another 5,000 cubic yards as well as finish grading and bank stablization to complete the entire project. That video is coming soon.
If you own land you have been told is too steep or too rough to do anything with, this is the kind of project we take on. Fall is when we book winter work.
