I’m so proud of our Washington Elementary co-researchers, they worked so hard for 5 months. Now, they’ve used poetry and photography to expose an issue on campus and want to make a difference.

100 students had the opportunity to use iPads to rediscover their school. Self care and being intentional about kindness was a big priority! They liked activating the garden as a meditation area and caring for Gerald, the plum tree. With donations from the community, we made weighted lap pillows and added them to the calming space.

Something that really makes their day at school feel more like home is Pearl, Dr. Lawson’s therapy Corgi. Because of the trash on campus, sometimes it’s hard to bring Pearl. Then researchers focused on maintaining the playground to have access to their favorite calming K-9.

Davison Consulting & Design provided an information literacy education program that allowed student to identify their constituents and advocate to stakeholders for necessary resources. We are so happy to provide the school with all the tools they need to continue the research, respond and measure their success!

This project tagline was “Don’t time your kind!”

Stop by any branch of the Yolo County Library to participate in In-N-Out Burger's Cover to Cover program! Children ages 4-12 are invited to read and earn up to 3 FREE burgers! This program runs from March 4th-April 15th, 2023. Children unable to read themselves can participate by having books read to them. 📚🍔
