There's a theory that's called the Return Flight Theory, and it says that the flight home shows you what's missing in your business.

While you were away, the gaps in your business probably showed up.
The question in your DMs that only you could answer.
The invoice that sat there because you're the only one who sends it.

Those are missing systems. Every single hole is something missing.
All the little things you still hold together yourself without thinking about it.

On your next flight, as soon as you land, write all the little things that showed up while you were away.

Someone told me early on that the goal of a business is to make yourself replaceable. And I hated hearing it.

Replaceable? I built this! Every system, every process, every client relationship started with me...

Then I realized what replaceable really means.

It means your team knows what to do without you in the room.
It means your systems run whether you're at your desk or on a walk.
It means the business doesn't break when you take a day off.

That's the whole reason I started building in the first place!!

I didn't want a job I couldn't leave. I wanted a business that could grow beyond me.

I said yes to everything for years.
Collaborations, calls, "quick favors" that were never quick.

I thought that's what building a business looked like.
Say yes. Stay visible. Keep the door open for everyone.

My calendar was packed. My progress wasn't.

I started treating my time like the business asset it is. Put boundaries in my schedule the same way I put SOPs in my operations: documented, non-negotiable, visible to the whole team.

No to projects that drained me.
No to people who ignored those boundaries.
No to opportunities that looked right on paper and felt wrong in my gut.

The business moved faster the second I stopped overcommitting.

People don't really warn you about the things you have to unlearn on the way up, so let me tell you some.

I spent years collecting beliefs that felt productive.

Packed calendar, doing it all myself, saying yes to everything.
And every single one of them was keeping me stuck.

When I stopped treating chaos like a business model and built systems that run without me, I could finally be productive and be the CEO instead of 'looking busy'.

I did everything in my business for years. Every deal. Every approval. Every single thing.

I convinced myself nobody else would care about it the way I did.
That belief kept me stuck for way too long...

Letting go didn't happen overnight.
It was slow and uncomfortable. A lot of conversations with myself about what "my business" really means.

Then my team stepped in. They went further than I ever expected.

Now I have space to think about where we're going, not what needs to get done today. That's what a business that runs without me starts to look like.
