For our wedding, Chris gave me 25 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon that he made himself. He created a custom label and numbered each bottle 1–25.
Last Sunday, on our 12th wedding anniversary, we opened bottle #12.
And while, the wine Chris makes these days has much improved 😂 that bottle reminded us of where we started—and how much life has changed since then.
Twelve years ago, we were newly married with no idea what the future would hold. After purchasing the property that would eventually become , I was diagnosed with breast cancer. We had two little girls, and suddenly life became about getting through the hard days and appreciating the ones that weren’t.
The days can still be tough, but we have a very different perspective now.
We never planned to open a winery. We never planned for this life. But somehow, that unexpected journey led us to Spencer Manor—a vineyard, a winery, a restaurant and a place where we get to share so many special moments with others.
That’s what makes bottle #12 so special.
It reminds us of two people who were just starting out, a young family, some really hard chapters, and a dream we didn’t even know we were building.
And now, we get to share that dream with you 🤍
To every guest who has walked through our doors, raised a glass with us, celebrated a milestone here, shared a meal, bought a bottle, told a friend about us, or simply cheered us on—thank you.
And to our community: thank you for believing in us, supporting us and allowing our unexpected little dream to become what Spencer Manor is today. It means more to us than you’ll ever know.
Cheers to the next 13 bottles, and wherever life takes us next!
