We mapped 16 businesses. On average, only 27% of how they actually run is written down. Not 70%. Not “most of it.” About a quarter.

If that phrase lives in your business, hiring won’t fix it. A process that only exists in your head doesn’t get split by new people and it gets multiplied.

Write down the one way first. Then every hire after that makes you stronger instead of louder.

A new standard doesn’t create the drama. It just turns the lights on. And some people really liked it in the dark. 💡

Next time you roll out a process and someone gets bent out of shape, do yourself a favor: look at who’s mad.

It’s never your rockstars. Your best people see a clear process and think “oh thank you, finally.”

The pushback usually comes from whoever’s been coasting behind “ugh, I’m just so busy” for three years.

So don’t water down the standard to keep the peace. The second you do, you’ve punished everyone doing it right to make the one person who wasn’t feel better.

Write it down. On paper it stops being your opinion and becomes how we do it here — you included. Then hold the line and watch who gets on board.

You didn’t start the fight. You just turned on the lights.
