Meet Robert Boylan of Newell, South Dakota!
Robert is a sixth-generation rancher whose family has been part of West River ranching since the late 1800s. Today, he operates a cow-calf operation, raises sheep, and manages an event venue alongside his family.
Robert's passion for ranching started early. "I remember fencing with my dad and grandpa, and I knew from then I wanted to ranch." From checking water and maintaning fences to improving grasslands and caring for livestock, Robert believes taking care of the land is one of the most important parts of the job.
When asked what keeps him involved in the cattle industry, Robert shared: "It's a lifestyle for me. I'm hoping some of my kids want to do it. It's just a way of life for me."
We also asked Robert what The Voice Behind the Beef means to him. "Getting the truthful side of the story out there and making sure people understands how beef is raised an the value it provides."
