It was my birthday on the 5th of this month. For my birthday, we ended up taking a trip to LA. It was just my little family and myself. It was great getting out and just enjoying time together, relaxing, eating good food, and lazing around. Looking back at this last year, I feel like I’ve grown a ton. Really taking on this business venture, raising my daughters, and becoming more independent has made me learn more about myself. I look forward to the coming year and what great things will happen then.

Fun fact about me: Although I married young, I did not get pregnant until 13 years into my marriage. My husband and I knew that we wanted to enjoy our time together, just the two of us. We may have married young, but we tried our best to hold off on children until we were both comfortable. The 13 years without children helped us grow together, and prepare us as a team for when we decided to have children. Getting pregnant and having my girls has been the best part of my life, and I'm so glad that I waited until I was ready mentally and financially for them.

My virtual assistant journey started out with uncanny coincidences. My husband stumbled onto different business ideas that could be done from home while reading different blogs and forwarded me the idea of becoming a virtual assistant. At the same time, a very good friend of mine had already began establishing herself as a virtual assistant. I was fortunate enough to have Michelle to lean on, to learn more about how to get started in this industry. I've since found my calling in social media management, and I have her to thank for guiding me through it all and, even now, supporting me through it all. Thank you Michelle for all of the great advice, the push to become more, and for being a great friend through almost 2 decades (we are so old now!).⁠

When I think of Facebook and Instagram and tend to think of the types of connections you have with each platform. With Facebook your connections are more personal, you have friends, and family that you interact with. Instagram, on the other hand, you have the capability of interacting with anyone, whether it be those close to you, or your favorite celebrities. Which one do you prefer or do you use both platforms interchangeably?

When it comes to social media and utilizing it for business the first question you should ask yourself is, "Who are you trying to reach?" Do you have a demographic that your product would benefit. Once you know who you're trying to engage with you can start to build your presence around that. The next steps to growth become a bit easier with this information, but if you're stuck and unsure about what's next, you can reach out, or follow me for more ideas, tips and tricks to get your social media growing.

Don't get tricked into services that offer to grow your social media presence overnight. Many of them will use bots that can ruin your social media presence. The algorithms of different social media platforms will detect bots and put in countermeasures to reduce your presence to the real people you want to reach. To grow your social media presence organically can take time, but trust me that it is worth it to do it the right way.

Born from immigrant parents, raised in sketchy neighborhoods, to living the dream. The hard work ethic and drive my parents instilled on me are the reason I'm where I'm at. It's easy to forget some times, but remembering where you come from can help you remember how far you've gone.

One of the joys of working from home is making a variety of dishes that my daughters might enjoy, only to be told they want chips or fries instead. The final nail in the coffin is when I finally get the chips or fries out to them and them saying they want instant noodles or egges instead.

I get why people would rather go in to the office, and even though it may sound like I'm complaining, I wouldn't trade working from home for anything. What about you? Would you rather work from home, go in to the office to get out of the house, or have the flexibility to do either or?
