I’ve come to believe that healing often begins when we stop asking, “How do I get rid of this story?” and start asking, “How do I make sense of it?” The goal is not to erase the past. The goal is to understand it well enough that it no longer controls the present. As we tell our stories, we discover that we are more than our wounds, more than our mistakes, and more than the hardest chapters we have lived through...

ADHD in Black women is often hiding in plain sight.

Not because the symptoms aren’t there. Because too often they’re explained away.

Research suggests Black women are among the least likely groups to receive an ADHD diagnosis, often spending years struggling before anyone recognizes what is actually happening. Symptoms may be misinterpreted as anxiety, depression, personality issues, or simply the burden of trying to hold everything together.

For many women, untreated ADHD doesn’t look like the stereotype people expect.

It can look like:
• Chronic exhaustion and burnout
• Missed deadlines despite working twice as hard
• Anxiety and mental overload
• Masking struggles behind competence
• Relationship conflict and misunderstandings
• Years of asking, “Why can’t I get it together?”

The cost of a missed diagnosis is often more than productivity.

It’s shame.
It’s self-doubt.
It’s believing character flaws are to blame for what may actually be a neurodevelopmental condition. Research on women with ADHD consistently shows delayed diagnosis is associated with years of misunderstanding, emotional distress, and reduced well-being.

Black women don’t need more messages about being stronger.

They need to be seen.
They need to be heard.
They need clinicians, researchers, and communities willing to look beyond stereotypes.

Because sometimes the question isn’t, “What’s wrong with me?”

It’s, “What if this has been ADHD all along?”

Fresh off his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, Jermaine reflects on why the best leaders know that “all we do is win” is never about one person. Every victory is woven from the people who showed up, sacrificed, believed, and served alongside us.

I feel a lot. I used to carry shame around being “too sensitive.” Now I understand that the depth of my sensitivity holds my capacity for love, wonder, intimacy, faith, creativity, and transformation.

My focus now is on how to carry my sensitivity without being crushed by it. How to remain open without becoming consumed. It’s a work in progress.

Core values matter because feelings change, trends change…and pressure changes people.

Values are the internal compass that help you decide who you are before life forces you to choose.

Without them, you’ll spend your life adapting to every room instead of being anchored in something deeper.

If you need help getting started on your core values, DM me. I have a lot of free resources!
