This Labor Day, we honor the work that rarely makes headlines.

The volunteer who shows up every Saturday to pack boxes. The program coordinator who stays late so a family doesn't go without. The board member who makes one more phone call. The staff member wearing four hats because the budget only covers two.

Nonprofit work is labor. It's early mornings and long weekends and a hundred small decisions nobody outside the building ever sees. It rarely comes with a title that impresses anyone at a party, and it almost never gets a press release.
