Green Team Junk Removal and National Grid are hosting a Recycling Drive at Salem High on Sunday, Sept. 6 from 9:00-1:00 (you may have received a mailed flyer). For more info on this event, call GTJR at 508-244-0450.

Note: This is separate from the quarterly Salem Residents E-Waste Recycling coming up on September 26th.

September 12th is the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection for Salem & Beverly residents. Bring $30 and proof of residency to Salem High School from 8:00 -- noon, and safely dispose of the materials listed on the flyer. Thanks for the reminder, Vermont!

Did you know that mixed material items are not recyclable?

For instance, cardboard cannisters are often lined with foil or plastic--this means they belong in the trash.

Contamination is one of the reasons recycling costs money: it takes effort (by humans and machines!) to remove the trash mixed in with the recycling but some contamination slips through the system and reduces the worth of recyclable materials.

Juicy, fresh berries are a highlight of summer! Added bonus: these berry containers are recyclable, both the paper one as well as the plastic clamshell. Enjoy, then recycle.

Air filters: please place in trash! Upon first glance, they appear to be made of paper. But closer inspection reveals fiberglass, metal, and synthetic fibers. These cannot be recycled. Help us spread the word!
