I know it’s been a while since I posted Facebook...it’s been a little busy. Kudos to my team, all of you all, with whom our ideas and drive to raise the bar converged, clashed, expanded, mingled, and coalesced into a better way of approaching river corridors, flood recovery, and the protection of our communities and infrastructure for multi-benefits and long term resilience. We’ve developed new approaches and tools; piloted new construction techniques; left a legacy of over 117 projects on over 65 miles of stream with which to observe and learn from; created numerous resources for the public library (coloradoewp.com); significantly increased capacity of staff and interagency partnerships raising the bar and expectation for all future work. We are more prepared for handling the aftermath of floods that have and will hit this state since 2013 and are actively developing tools to help communities avoid development in high hazard areas (coloradohazardmapping.com). Heck we even managed to convince them to leave some things alone and let nature heal itself. Still plenty to learn from, share out, and improve upon and you know I’m already on the front lines pushing for it. The list of co-conspirators is too long but know we share this journey and award together. (I am one of several folks that received this award this year on behalf of our efforts, humbled and honored to be part of it all for sure).
