I'm always curious about leaders choose to organize the chaos.

Here is the Ottawa airport. They have clearly identified "lanes" to help people move seamlessly.

🏎️. Lanes for power vehicles
🚶 Lanes for walkers

Sometimes people respected the designations. Sometimes they didn't. I surmise it's more out of not knowing than intention.

Over time, and consistency, the norms will become habit.

I recently had a girl trip to St. John's, Newfoundland.

Of the many things I loved about the trip, I was enamoured with Jelly Bean Row.

In part, it was the colors.

Deeper than that is the way the community embraces the colors of Jelly Bean Row, including painting the concept on the electrical boxes (smaller image).

There isn't just one Jelly Bean Row - there are blocks scattered all over St. John's with these delightful colors.

These colors have become part of the community. In part, it's how the community expresses its resilience and personality.

If someone were to go to your community, your company, your home, how would they see you expressing your culture?

The reviews said that the location of our AirBB was dangerous.

Some felt unsafe.

Others suggested we not reserve this spot. 🏚️

In many ways, I see the parallels between graffiti and tattoos. They are both an expression of oneself. 🙇‍♂️

Are there outliers? Of course. There always are outlier, regardless of the topic.

I am surprised when I work with organizations that require employees to hide tattoos rather than educate their clients.

I was surprised when so many of the reviews for this AirBB in St. John's, Newfoundland, shied away from this location.

Turns out it was exceptionally safe. My luck I suppose as others may have taken our reservation if it weren't for the reviews. 🤷‍♀️

I'm just getting back from a trip to Canada and can't help but notice and appreciate all of the colors.

It's just the way it is there. ❤️ 🇨🇦 🌈

Do you know of Terry Fox? He is a Canadian hero... someone that has become a hero internationally.

He lost his leg to cancer and had a vision of running across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

This monument is in St. John's, the most eastern city in Canada. Here, Terry dipped his foot into the Atlantic and started his run.

His vision carries on today.

While I visited this memorial, I felt Terry's somber, powerful presence.

People didn't talk much.

It felt more like we were reflecting on our own lives, our own story, and how we use our strength.

Celebrate life with me this week!

107 years of life...

This is my grandma and her two children (mom and uncle) and my aunt.

Whatever age you are, imagine:

🤔 Living that much longer
🤔 Fitting in that many more memories
🤔 Knowing so many more people
🤔 So many more memories

I am grateful for the memories grandma gave me. She was a tough farm girl. The only girl in a family of boys.

I will continue to embrace her strength and determination, which she continues to show me in every visit.

Today is international dog day! 🐕‍🦺.

It's been a month without Bug, the perfect puppy, and I still find myself in tears on a regular basis.

My reframe has been to think about how grateful we were to have such an amazing dog. Like here, here with me at my improv class.

That reframe works sometimes...
