Today’s repair was on a beautiful high-end GE built-in microwave that stopped heating food.

When I arrived, the display lights were working, the turntable was spinning, and the timer countdown operated perfectly — but the microwave wasn’t producing any heat.

Right away, I noticed something important: the unit was missing that distinct high-pitched humming sound these microwaves normally make while heating. That immediately pointed me toward a power/inverter issue.

After carefully opening the unit and running diagnostics, I tested the inverter board and confirmed it wasn’t producing the correct voltage levels. Replaced the faulty board, reassembled the microwave, and got this beautiful appliance heating like new again. 🔧⚡️

This is why proper troubleshooting matters — not every “no heat” microwave needs to be replaced. Sometimes it just takes experience, diagnosis, and the right repair.

Sometimes the best repair… is no repair.

As a technician, I could take every job and replace parts just to get things running again—but that’s not how I run my business, and it’s not how I train my team either.

I was recently called out to a customer with a 15-year-old washing machine. They just wanted to know if it was worth fixing.

After checking it out, it needed a gear case replacement—a major repair. Once I broke it all down, the cost of fixing it didn’t make sense compared to replacing the machine.

I was upfront with them and told them the truth: at that point, a repair would likely just be a short-term fix on a machine already at the end of its life.

Got a call from a customer whose washer completely stopped turning on — and the door was locked with clothes stuck inside.

On top of that, the clothes had been sitting in there long enough that they were starting to smell, which made the situation even more urgent.

They have two little kids at home, so getting the washer back up and running quickly was a priority.

First step was checking the basics.

I tested the outlet to confirm proper 120V and made sure the breaker wasn’t tripped — power was good.

Next, I opened up the unit and went straight to the main control board.

After testing, I found the issue:
A section of the board was only reading 0.1V when it should’ve been at 5V.

That’s a clear sign of a failed control board.

Ordered the part the same day, came back the next day, installed it, and had their washer fully up and running in less than 24 hours.

No more locked door, no more stuck clothes, and problem solved fast.
