I've been having a lot of fun digging back through the archives while organizing hard drives and fine tuning the direction of my photography. There hasn't necessarily been a shift in my work because I'm rediscovering pieces I'm drawn to now, presently. But I think there has been some movement around what catches my eye. And I think that's really interesting to consider: that sometimes you have to look back at what you've done critically and constructively with the lens of newfound experiences.

Towards the end of our time together at the personal narrative workshop, each of the participants identified a strong turning point in their past before writing a letter to their younger self. Creating something new in the face of adversity has to be one of the most incredible stories in any person’s life. And I’ve found that pinpointing that juncture while considering a past self–through a tender lens–can lead to some really beautiful attunement. The stories that came through this exercise were exquisite.

I’m ecstatic to continue offering live workshops this year–both independently and in partnerships; in real life and virtual. Stay tuned for happenings. 🪷

This isn’t just a virtual photography studio. This isn’t just photo sessions. This isn’t just a photographer/client interaction. This is a community. This is family. This is love. The opening reception for Manifest was nothing short of magical and as I reflected on the attendees, I realized many of them were Woke Beauty supporters, subjects, clients and members. You all have become a huge facet of my life, showing up in my professional life and personal life alike...reminding me that they are oftentimes beautifully intertwined...inspiring me by your pursuits...encouraging me with your presence. I feel so, so lucky and ‘thank you’ will never be enough but since there are no better words...thank you.

, my friends, my family, my supporters, you have my heart. My gratitude for you is endless.

If you missed the exhibit opening, be sure to go check out the space at on E. 11th St. the work will be viewable till March 27. And stay tuned for a recording of my conversation with Virginia Cumberbatch to learn more about my journey, identity and process. @ Miranda Bennett Studio

I haven’t posted on this platform in 27 days. (Oops.) Instagram hasn’t been my priority and in this stage of my career, I’m working hard on keeping priority singular. Though this resource has been a huge component of my success, I don’t want to rely on it fully for my livelihood. It doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to a 3rd party. It doesn’t define my identity. It’s a modality for expression. The gap in activity hasn’t been all that easy. I’ve had to grapple with self criticism: ‘You’re lazy and unproductive!’ I’ve had to tell social media ‘experts’ that they can take a hike: ‘The algorithm will never forgive you!’ And best of all, I’ve been forced to fill my social media time with other more pressing issues (i.e. sitting silently). To catch you up to speed, here are a few things I AM doing: 1. A 7 month meditation training with in adjunct with a daily meditation practice 2. Wrapping up a more seamless, automated online experience for my clients 3. Preparing for the opening reception of a curated selection of my self portrait series 3. Hiring an associate producer 4. Completing a podcast series on multiracial identity 5. Wedding planning 6. Commencing ’s Instagram presence ;) With self compassion, my daily activities have taken on more purpose, patience and expansion…ultimately leading to more space for reflection and a higher level of productivity. Sometimes, it feels self centered; and so, in order to maintain altruism (one of my most valued pillars), I remind myself that the better I am as me, the better I’ll be for you. 🦋

Last weekend I lead a workshop on Compelling Content, Compelling Stories at . I harped on strategies around the power of storytelling, brain dumping, simplifying your narrative and what it means to discover your verb. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by social media but once you recognize that the internet is a wand and you are the magician...your possibilities for growth are endless. Thank you for having me ! 📚♥️🕊 @ Robert B. Rowling Hall

🌟Workshop announcement🌟 (...sold out!!) So excited to see you at annual conference . I’ll be leading a work shop called Compelling Stories; Compelling Content. Storytelling plays a huge part in both personal and professional branding. In this session, I’ll teach you how to create social media imagery that has something to say. I have a rooted philosophy in storytelling that is conceptual and speaks directly to self awareness and the active, detailed words behind an individual’s ‘why’ on social media. My consulting sessions with clients are pure and organic. Hence, this session will be philosophy based with action items that bring you clarity rather than overwhelm. No talk on numbers or pretty pictures. More discussion about translating a dream into a narrative, attracting an audience you love, genuinely sharing what’s meaningful to you...and how to build a platform that feels authentic to the person behind the account. Because. Well. You deserve that. ✨🤍💫
