Today in the U.S., 61 percent of all Latinas participate in the labor force. However, Latinas account for less than two percent of executives and hold less than three percent of all corporate board seats. Some explanations as to the challenging journey of Latina leadership is due to the fact that they are a “double minority,” given they identify as women and as an ethnic minority. The Latina journey to high-level positions is cumbersome with several historic barriers still implicating women’s roles in leadership. This discussion will share the journey to success from high-level Latina contributors and how they are empowering the next generation of Latina leaders. It is sure to be a thought-provoking session that will inspire attendees “vamos adelante.”

Aqua-Tots Swim School San Antonio Franchise Owner Recognized As Water Safety Awareness Icon With State and City Proclaimations

San Antonio, TX (May 2024)--Water Safety Awareness Month is a pivotal time dedicated to educating and reminding individuals of all ages about the importance of being safe around water.

Texas has over 800,000+ backyard pools, 7,000+ Lakes, 191,000 miles of streams, 15 major river basins, eight coastal basins, and 196 major reservoirs. In 2024, Texas has recorded 15 deaths due to drowing, two here in Bexar County.

“Many of drowning cases can be prevented with water safety awareness,” says Arlette Belver, Aqua Tots Swim School franchise owner of four locations in Texas and expanding in Florida in 2024.

Aqua Tots Swim School offers comprehensive swim programs designed for all ages and abilities, but most importantly emphasizes the critical skills needed to be safe in and around water.

During Water Safety Awareness Month, and indeed throughout the year, underlines the importance of continuous education on water safety. It is a reminder that drowning is preventable, and knowledge, along with vigilance, can make all the difference.

A Water Safety Awareness Commemoration was hosted at Aqua Tots Swim Aqua-Tots Swim School Dove Creek on Thursday, May 23rd at 12 pm to 1:30 pm. The commemoration declared May, Water Safety Awareness Month, by City of San Antonio Proclaimation, signed by Mayor Ron Nirenberg and State of Texas Resolution, signed by Texas Representative Trey Martinez Fischer. In addition, Aqua Tots Swim School leader, Arlette Belver, was recognized as a community leader by local nonprofit, ICON TALKS and Icon to Ican Foundation.

Celebrating Water Safety Awareness Month with such partnerships not only amplifies the message but also honors those committed to making a difference in the lives of others through education and prevention.
