I was so kindly invited by the founder, Weston Jenkins, to attend the Disabled Outdoorsmen USA banquet, and I just wanted to share a little about it with y’all. All I can say is, “Wow!”
Disabled Outdoorsmen USA was inspired by Weston Jenkin’s cousin, T.J. DuPerier. Seeing firsthand the challenges individuals with disabilities face when it comes to hunting, fishing, and outdoor experiences is what sparked the heart behind this organization.
Their mission is to provide outdoor recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities, giving them access to the outdoors, building confidence, creating community, and making memories that might not otherwise be possible.
It’s such a special cause, and you can truly see the heart behind it.
I also had the chance to meet some really wonderful people there. Douglas, Bear, and Brandon were all so kind and welcoming. I got to hear the stories of JoAnn and Peyton, as well as many others, and those moments really stayed with me. Hearing firsthand how these opportunities impact their lives makes it all so much more than just an event. It’s life changing for so many families.
If you’re ever looking for a way to support something meaningful, you can:
• Attend their banquet
• Volunteer
• Donate
• Or simply help spread the word
I’m really grateful I got to be there and see it all firsthand. It’s a beautiful reminder of how much good can come from one person deciding to make a difference 🤍
