🗺️ You know what hit me like a slap in the face recently?

I'm at NSA, just finished sitting through this solid full-day workshop, and I'm outside waiting for my Uber with this fellow speaker I'd met.

We're just chatting about our businesses, you know how it is.

She looks at me and goes: "I feel like I do really well with my speaking, but it's just not adding up in my revenue growth.

I feel completely stuck and have no idea how to get unstuck."

That took me back to my early days.

Because I lived that exact torture for years.

I'd walk off stage absolutely buzzing, thinking "I totally nailed that presentation."

My audience loved me, the feedback was amazing, my content was solid...

But then I'd check my bank account... it barely noticed it.

It was like there was this huge gap between my speaking ability and my business results.

Try a new marketing trick... nothing.

Polish my talk until it was perfect... revenue stayed flat.

I was feeling STUCK "I'm good at this, so why isn't it paying off?"

Then my mentor hit me with one question that literally stopped me cold:

"Can you tell me where your business actually stands right now... with real numbers?"

I'm thinking, "Of course I can, what kind of question is that?"
Turns out... I had absolutely no clue.

💡 Zero idea what my average monthly revenue was

💡 Couldn't tell you how many qualified speaking opportunities were in my pipeline

💡 Had no clue what my conversion rate was from conversations to actual booking

He just looked at me and said:

"C’mon man, you're asking me to help you get to where you want to go but you can't tell me where you're starting from."

It was like trying to use GPS without setting your current location.

That's when it hit me: I was great at the speaking part, but clueless about the business part.

It was a Game Changing moment.

Once I started tracking these five numbers, everything shifted:

📊 Average monthly revenue from speaking

👥 Qualified speaking prospects in the pipeline

🔄 Conversion rate (conversations → booking)

💰 Average fee per engagement

🤝 Percentage of bookings from referrals

And I've seen this transform other speakers too.

Ericka went from those painful $3K months to consistent $8K months just by tracking her qualified prospects and conversion rate.

Oftentimes the worst illness we can get is 'Perfection-itis'...
..we were putting together the finishing touches on our Black Friday promotions when my productivity partner says "c'mon "G" it doesn't have to be perfect, so long it's good!

I don't think she said it because it's Sunday either. She said it because true!

Imperfect action beats no-action every time.

1. Focus on what’s getting the most out of what’s working and ‘not going to change’ versus moving from ‘shiny object to shiny objec’

2. Focus on building an email list and getting the most out of it. Because not only is it a list you own, the people are far more engaging.
