For Kaeden Ballos Motorsports, joining the Wings and Wheels Foundation is bigger than just recognition — it’s opportunity.

The right support system can open new doors, create new relationships, and change the way sponsors view a young driver’s future.

Big thanks to Ralph Howard Hansen Jr. and Pegasus Marketing Group for helping move the journey forward.

How to Get Faster (and Get Sponsored): Inside Havoc Motorsport w/ John Harkenrider
In this full episode of The Details Podcast, I sit down with Cu***ng of Courage Motorsport and Technologies, LLC for a real behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to build faster drivers—and build a program sponsors actually want to be part of.

We get into the stuff that actually moves lap times: why so many drivers hit a wall when they don’t trust the brakes, how data + video review becomes a “light switch” moment for younger drivers, and how smart teams find time through setup changes (including a great Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wisconson. story—because The Kink will humble you if you don’t respect it).

We also talk about the business side: what “arrive & drive” really means, why a serious crew matters, and what sponsors should expect when a program is run professionally (deliverables, content, hospitality, relationships—not just a logo on a car).

If you’re an up-and-coming driver trying to level up—or a business owner exploring motorsports sponsorship—this episode is a roadmap.

Watch now, and drop a comment: Are you trying to find lap time, find sponsorship, or both? 🏁

Fernando Alonso isn’t just a favorite driver to watch — he’s the blueprint.
Robert Krayevsky shared why Alonso is his #1 hero: the longevity, the sharp mind, the reaction time… and the story of grinding his way up without coming from money. That kind of push is what Robert is chasing as he climbs the ladder.
Who was the driver that made you fall in love with racing?

This is one of those moments you never forget.

Pearce Wade talks about the first time he ever went karting — a Christmas gift, a simple rental track, nobody else there… just him and his dad sharing laps.

And that was enough to light the fuse.

That first taste of victory changes everything.

Mianna Wick told us about winning her very first race ever and realizing this was more than just a hobby. It was the beginning of a real addiction to racing, fueled by heart, belief, and raw God-given talent.

“My very first race that I had ever done, I took first place in… I had no idea what I was even doing at that point. I just jumped into a local club race and raced my heart out.”

That’s the kind of moment racers never forget. The first win. The first podium. The first time you realize this sport has a hold on you for life.

Sometimes the calling shows up early.

I asked Kaeden Ballos the exact moment he knew racing had him.

His answer was simple and powerful:

The first time he tested a Bandolero car, he got out and told his parents, his grandfather, his grandmother — everybody — that this was what he was going to do for the rest of his life.

He said racing had a hook in him from that day on.

That’s the kind of passion you can’t fake.

Legendary crew chief Jim McGee has seen just about everything in racing, so when he talks about innovation, it’s worth listening.
In this clip, Jim looks back on the development work he did with Pat on natural gas-powered race cars and explains why he still believes natural gas would be a better vehicle solution than electricity.
He talks about its reliability, how naturally available it is, and why he believes the automotive industry backed away from something that had real potential.
Whether you agree or not, it’s a fascinating perspective from a true legend of the sport.
What do you think — was natural gas a missed opportunity?

“Don’t limit your perspective to just what you can remember.”
That line from Mark Dill really stuck with me.
In this reel, Mark talks about the difference between nostalgia and history. A lot of us love the era we grew up with, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but the truth is the sport we love today was built by generations that came before us.
Mark has been to 51 Indy 500s, and his perspective is a great reminder that being a true race fan means appreciating the deeper story, not just the part we personally lived through.
This is a great clip for anyone who loves the Indy 500 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway, motorsports, and the history behind the legends.
What’s your favorite era of racing history?
