4 stations. 67 players. Thousands of assets.

One day in. A season’s worth of content out.

CUENTO spearheaded SDSU Football's 2026 Media Day, from developing the creative vision and designing each set to moving 67 players through multiple CUENTO-led and SDSU-driven stations, all while keeping production running smoothly from start to finish.

YEAR 7: Today.

Seven years ago, CUENTO was two people building something nights and weekends.

Today, we're a team of 19.

Our work now spans professional sports, college athletics and enterprise brands. We've had the opportunity to work with teams from MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS, the G League, USL and NCAA. We've grown our work in sponsorship strategy, executive consulting and leadership engagements.

And this year, we built an entirely new chapter of CUENTO: the Experience Division.

But for everything that's changed since Year 1, the idea behind CUENTO hasn't.

Great work starts with great people, strong relationships and stories worth telling.

To our team, clients, partners and everyone who's been part of the first seven years: thank you.

Here's to the stories we've told, and all the ones still to come. 🥂

YEAR 6: More places. More projects. More CUENTO.

By Year 6, the work was taking us just about everywhere.

It was also a big year for baseball. In addition to supporting the Tigers through the postseason and continuing our work with the Athletics, we added new projects with the Orioles, Nationals, and Marlins.

Beyond the ballpark, we continued executive leadership work across the Tigers and Red Wings, and enhanced the SDSU football experience.

We headed back to Cabo for the Diamante Worldwide Technology Championship. Brought the River Park Block Party to life. And hosted our annual company retreat, CUENTO House, in Oceanside.

More teams. More brands. More cities. More experiences. And one growing team behind it all.

Six years down. One more chapter to go.

YEAR 5: Welcome to CUENTO's sports era. 🏀 ⚾️ 🏈 🏒

This was the year our work across sports took a major leap.

We added the Memphis Grizzlies and University of San Diego. Expanded our work with San Diego State across football and basketball media days. Helped reimagine the SDSU football game presentation. Traveled to Toronto for a Blue Jays benchmarking trip. And began planning around the Detroit Red Wings Centennial.

Different leagues. Different cities. Different challenges.

Turns out, we were just getting started.

YEAR 4: New doors started opening

We built Johnny Wahoo from the ground up, from strategy to packaging and merchandise.

We expanded our work with Ballast Point and Morrissey Market.

We won our first competitive RFP and officially began working with San Diego State Athletics.

And our work took us to Detroit, with Katie stepping in as Interim VP of Marketing for the Tigers and CUENTO supporting brand essence work for both the Tigers and Red Wings.

What started as two people building a company after hours was now a team of eight taking on some of our biggest opportunities yet.

And Year 5? That's when sports really took off.

YEAR 3: The CUENTO world got a whole lot bigger.

More clients. More cities. More productions. More opportunities to stretch what CUENTO could do.

BDA became both a client and strategic partner. We helped launch Safu Sake. Morrissey Market took us to Boston. Our relationship with Diamante began. We headed to Spring Training with the Athletics for the first time.

And somewhere in between all of that, we made time for: Summer Skip Day.

Year 3 was one for the books!

Year Two started the same way Year One ended: building CUENTO while still working our full-time jobs.

Then, in early October, we made the biggest decision yet.

We resigned from the Padres.

December 1 was our first day on our own. After a year and a half of early mornings, late nights and two jobs, CUENTO finally had our full attention.

Kevin and Brennan joined us, growing our team from two to four. We continued our work with C3 Insurance, became the exclusive store-opening marketing partner for Eat The Frog Fitness Scripps Ranch, and expanded our work with Ballast Point and Kings & Convicts.

New opportunities followed: brand development with Major League Baseball, a rebuild with 1904 FC and a new website for Sugarlands Shine.

New people. New partners. Bigger opportunities.

Year two was the year we bet on ourselves and found out what CUENTO could become when we gave it everything we had.

Next up: Year 3.

CUENTO officially existed. Now we had to figure out what it could become.

We started with two people and early partners including Eat The Frog Fitness, RMD Group and C3 Insurance.

Then came a defining moment. The new ownership group at Ballast Point chose CUENTO to step in as fractional marketing leadership and their full-service marketing team. It was early validation of the model we believed in.

Just months later, the world shut down.

We had no idea what would happen next. We stayed the course, kept open lines of communication with our partners and our team, and did everything we could to help everyone navigate an incredibly difficult situation.

All while still working our full-time jobs with the Padres.

For a year and a half, that meant 6 a.m. calls with East Coast clients and late nights working on CUENTO, making sure our responsibilities at the Padres always came first.

As Year One ended, we were preparing for the biggest leap yet: leaving our full-time jobs and finally giving CUENTO everything we had.

Two people. One year down. The real leap was still ahead.

YEAR ONE OF SEVEN.
