Jesse La Flair is an actor, an athlete, a stuntman and a pioneer in the sport of free-running. He's appeared in major productions such as Divergent, 300: Rise of an Empire and multiple X-Men films, where he doubled as Nightcrawler, as shown on his IMDB reel (here), which is amazing. Thanks to Wrightsville Beach Magazine, I was lucky enough to get to meet him and write an interview about it (linked below) https://www.wrightsvillebeachmagazine.com/2026_spring/jesse-la-flair-introduces-parkour-fitness-in-wilmington/article_2b04702a-48d2-4b92-9578-7b5ee26062cb.html

Brookgreen Gardens: America's First Sculpture Garden Still Forges Ahead 🌿🗿

Quick info people search for:
**Hours**: Daily 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM (gates close 4:30 PM for daytime admission). Check brookgreen.org for seasonal/special event updates.

Now the story: America's first public outdoor sculpture garden (opened 1932!) is right in our backyard near Myrtle Beach — and it's more inspiring than ever.

551 acres in Murrells Inlet: 1,400+ figurative sculptures, meandering paths, water features, ancient live oaks with Spanish moss, spring blooms, a small accredited zoo, botanical gardens, rice plantation history trail, microscopic miniature art gallery, meditation spots, and on-site restaurants.

Founded by Archer Huntington and sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington on former rice plantations, Brookgreen transformed a complex history into beauty, art, and peace. Anna’s vision — showcasing women artists in an era when they were often overlooked — is especially powerful.

It's a reminder: places with difficult pasts can become centers of wonder for generations.

Have you been? What's your favorite spot — sculptures, gardens, zoo, or quiet paths? Drop it below! 👇

ILM: Wilmington's Fastest-Growing Airport – Boon or Buzz? ✈️🌊

Wilmington International Airport (ILM) is booming: $3.3 billion economic impact in 2023, 1.3+ million passengers, 4th-fastest growing in the nation, #1 in NC.

But rapid growth brings concerns — especially noise from military and commercial flights.

- Airport launched a voluntary FAA Part 150 Noise Study (started 2024, ongoing through ~2026) to map impacts and explore voluntary abatement procedures.
- Public feedback sessions held (May 2024, Nov 2025) — residents described some noise as "horrendous" or "stabbed in the ears."
- Potential mitigations: soundproofing homes/schools if data shows issues (voluntary for pilots).
- Big change ahead: ILM likely headed for Class C airspace designation (expanding controlled area from 5 to ~20 miles out) for better traffic separation/safety.
- $185M 5-year capital plan to handle 1.5M+ passengers annually.

Growth fuels jobs, tourism, and connectivity — but balance with community well-being is key. As one expert said: "It's impossible to have a thriving community without a thriving airport."

What do you think — is the noise a fair trade for the economic boost? Share your experience or thoughts below! 👇

Avast Ye, Matey! 🏴‍☠️⛵
Luxury Home Plies the Waters at Figure Eight

By Fritts Causby | Photos by Andrew Sherman

What could be better than docking a luxury yacht on Figure Eight Island? For the owners of 21 Sandy Point, this nautical-inspired masterpiece is the answer.

Surrounded on nearly all sides by water, the home blends seamlessly with its coastal environment — from the teak-and-holly observatory mimicking a ship's cockpit (with 360° sky views) to galley-style kitchens, shiplap walls, and a pool that wraps under the house like a resort oasis.

Highlights:
- Tabby stucco pillars (oyster-shell concrete) give the lower level a breakwater vibe
- Garage doors open on both ends for breezeway water views
- Outdoor kitchen with hidden wax-paper roller for low-country boils & oyster roasts
- Hand-rubbed oak floors, plaster staircase, and custom art curation by Pall Mall Art Advisors

It's a boater's paradise that proves you don't have to choose between life on the water and appreciating value that rises (unlike most boats!).

What do you think — would you live on a "yacht on land"? Drop a comment! 👇
