You don’t need to hire a full time D&I Manager to create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
In the last year I’ve seen a growing trend in jobs for D&I specialists. Overall, it’s great to see jobs open up amid a pandemic to support a much needed initiative. However, throwing an additional resource at a business issue that may be more deeply rooted may not have the intended outcome or results you had hoped for.
In order to create change, you must first analyze your workforce. Understand what barriers are causing a lack of diversity. Form a committee with current employees and get their input. Begin setting goals with timelines and hold people accountable for those goals.
