Today is Earth Day 🌍
The theme for Earth Day 2026 is "Our Power, Our Planet" — and the numbers behind it are remarkable.
In 2025, the world added 692 GW of new renewable energy capacity. The highest single year ever recorded. Renewables now represent nearly 49% of global installed power capacity.
In the US alone, solar expanded 34.5%. Battery storage grew 58.4%. And the EIA projects 62% more clean energy capacity in 2026 than last year.
The momentum is real. But here's what doesn't make the headlines:
Nearly 40% of all planned wind and solar projects are either late or abandoned. Not because of technology. Not because of financing. Because of what's in the documents — title defects, mineral rights conflicts, site control gaps, and diligence failures that surface too late.
