While this is older information https://www.travelpulse.com/news/hotels-and-resorts/new-american-hotel-lodging-association-data-says-world-cup-2026-bookings-are-below-expectations?pk=nmg_email_newsletter_nmg-mndaily&oly_enc_id=9352A2995923C0S, I'm wondering if anyone was able to take advantage to either book a less expensive getaway or event at one of these hotels.

Nothing more than curiosity on my part.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association reports that 80% of hoteliers say bookings for the 2026 World Cup are below expectations, largely due to FIFA room block cancellations, international travel barriers, and rising costs.

"Should You Charge Sales Tax on This Order?

Ask the Accountant…

Question: I am charging my customers a credit card fee if they pay by credit card. I am not charging sales tax on that. Should I be?

Answer: The answer is a solid “Probably.” Although it seems to be counter intuitive, most states will require that you charge sales tax for this charge if other items on your invoice are subject to sales tax. Ask your accountant or call your state’s department of revenue. You don’t want to be audited and owe back taxes, interest and penalties, especially since it would be your client paying the sales tax."

If you're charging a credit card "convenience" fee, you should check with your accountant or tax attorney who understands sales tax laws in your state and municipality.
