I get asked all the time, “What’s one easy thing I can do to become a better leader?” — My answer: Be IN TUNE with your employees 💫

A great leader grooms their employees and helps them get to where they want to go, personally & professionally. You simply CAN’T do that effectively unless you’re in tune with your team and understand their goals!

Here are a few key questions any leader should be asking people they manage:
1. What do you want get out of this role? How can your time here at this company help you reach your career goals?
2. What new skills/ knowledge do you want to learn this year?
3. What can I do to help you achieve your goals?
4. What are your strengths and how do you see yourself contributing to our team?

• Step 1: RECOGNIZE negative thoughts/limiting beliefs you have about work. Reflect on how those impact your feelings & actions in the workplace.
• Step 2: REFRAME those thoughts into neutral/positive statements and growth opportunities. I.e. My boss is a micromanager ➡️ My boss is a perfectionist.
• Step 3: RESPOND in a way that moves you forward. I.e. My boss is a perfectionist ➡️ I’ll anticipate her concerns and prepare in advance.

We had the pleasure of guiding 60+ incredible young women through an epic day of exploration at ✨Girls Rising Career Day✨ We built resumes, practiced interviewing, and met with inspiring career women: police officers, therapists, social workers, public defenders, entrepreneurs, recruiters, a nurse, fitness teacher, book agent, professor and more.

Most importantly, we learned no career path is straight and that success comes from hard work and follow through!
