Kicking off Arts Education Month with the terrific Letty Kraus with a commentary in EdSource. We are so fortunate in California to have Prop 28 funds to grow the arts ed field. And, as we highlight in this piece, building the capacity of our practicing arts educators is essential for our students.

Educators have a wide range of training and development needs that must be met if the state is to fulfill the promise of Proposition 28.

AEP Visiting Teachers are scheduled in teams to deliver rotations of dance, music, theatre and visual arts lessons to elementary students throughout the district. AEP Visiting Teachers train monthly with lessons written by the central office VAPA Resource Teacher team throughout the school year. Schedules are flexible and visiting teachers can pick up additional substitute assignments at their discretion through the district’s substitute management system on days they are not assigned in AEP.
