We encourage you to read and share this recent editorial from the L.A. Times Editorial Board. The Times rightly points out that restrictions on where charter schools can share campuses with traditional schools puts “too low a priority on what works best for all students.”

More ominously, the Times clearly addresses that this is the tip of the iceberg for some LAUSD Board members, and to expect more policies to curb charter schools.

We need to stand together as one community and do what’s best for all public school students in Los Angeles.

Read the editorial here:

The school board placed severe restrictions on where charter schools can rent space on district campuses. But charter students are L.A. Unified's kids as well and deserve equal consideration.

An Open Letter in L.A. School Report says California’s Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) – which was intended to direct more resources to the state’s highest needs students – has fallen short in terms of equity and accountability. The writers argue that we need to better track how each LCFF dollar is spent to see if those funds actually reach the intended students in order to stop the cycles of inequity. Read more here:

Leaders and advocates alike had high hopes for the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) introduced in California in 2013. Both of us certainly did. Eight years later we see clearly that the implementation of a system that promised equity and accountability has fallen short in two key areas: equity a...

Not only has my daughter felt comfortable at James Jordan, but I have too. I’ve always felt at home in this community because whenever I have questions, the staff listens. . . .I’m able to connect with them because I can see that they love what they do." -- Lorena Saldivar, a proud parent of a James Jordan Middle School student.
