One of the most common things I see in coaching during an inflection point:
People are crystal clear on what they don’t want.

“I don’t want this environment.”
“I don’t want to feel drained anymore.”
“I don’t want another role like this.”

Why?

Because pain creates clarity.

Frustration, anxiety, misalignment, and disappointment are powerful signals. Our brains are wired to move us away from danger, discomfort, and threat.

But here’s where people often get stuck:
Knowing what you do want is much harder.

Why?

Because moving toward something new requires uncertainty.

Suddenly, fear enters the conversation:
➡️ What if I choose wrong?
➡️ What if I fail?
➡️ What if this isn’t really better?
➡️ What will others think?

At an inflection point, many people are not just changing jobs, relationships, or priorities.

They are redefining identity.

The challenge isn’t usually a lack of options.

It’s having the courage to move from clarity about what you’re leaving to curiosity about what you’re building.

Sometimes the better question isn’t:
“What’s my next move?”

It’s:
“Who do I want to become next?”

If you’re at an inflection point, stop focusing only on what you want to escape.

Spend equal time defining what success, alignment, and fulfillment actually look like in your next chapter.
