8-bit Mario and Luigi made from 64 pieces of stained glass. This Christmas commission was an interesting challenge as Chris had to work out how to bring an 8-bit effect to glass which generally does not play well with sharp corners. The finished piece is 12"x12" and includes a wooden frame and light box. The frame is finished in the Shou Sugi Ban method.

Wow! Chris's recent commission of Zagreus from digital fan-art provided by our client, Ramie Nunally, is getting a lot of Reddit and Instagram love! 166 pieces of glass, copper foil method, 32x20. Chris built the frame and Ramie finished it with the painting and the gorgeous brass inlay. The cabinet doors restoration project is coming along nicely. Chris had to take a break to special order the right size of lead came, but now he's speeding along. He put a lot of care into the color. The cabinets don't have lighting in them, and the doors are meant to be transparent, so he kept the color a bit on the light and subtle side. Can't wait till they're done so the client can see!

Chris's latest project is a restoration of 110 year old cabinet doors. We met the clients at ArtWalk Liberty Station, and they were impressed with Chris's paint work. There are four panels in total (swipe to see the original panels). The grapes, leaves, and vines were once colored but done so with glass paint that faded over time. The client wants to keep as much of the original glass as possible and opt'd to have Chris fuse color to the glass with vitreous enamels which are Chris's specialty. Chris will have to fully disassemble the panels, paint and kiln fire the pieces that are suppose to be colored, cut replacements for some broken pieces, and then fully reassemble the panels. In the first picture, Chris is working on creating a template from the original design to work off of for test runs and reassembly. In the second picture you can see one of his test runs using test glass to get the colors right. Lastly, you can see the original panels waiting on disassembly.

We're excited to announce that Jupiter Glass has been selected to participate in Artwalk Liberty Station on August 1-3 in San Diego, CA! Nyx will be on display along with more planets and Chris's smaller pieces. This will be our first appearance at an Artwalk event. Here's a little sneak peek at our booth so far. We have more panels on the way and some really cool ideas for improvements, so make sure to mark your calendars to come down and see what we cook up in the next few months!

Figured it would be fun to show off the Hades journey so far. Chris started with a stained glass class last March where he made the first piece, and then he decided to jump straight to Hades using a lot of YouTube videos and trial and error. Nyx was the culmination of everything he learned from the four Lord Hades pieces plus he made a bunch of smaller space-themed pieces where he developed the technique he used for the stars in Nyx's hair. His plan had always been to do video game art in stained glass, and we picked Hades because A. We both love Hades (we're both nearing 200 runs), and B. Supergiant Games is super cool and supportive around fan art and recreations. But he can do other video games on commission. He's working on a smaller Charmander piece right now.

Here is the latest completed piece by popular demand on Reddit. This is Thanatos, the God of Death from the videogame, Hades. He is 24"x30", created with 192 pieces of glass, and his eyes were made of citrine cabochons.
