I recently got a chance to talk with Mysty Rusk, the director at The Brink SBDC and the founder of the San Diego Angel Conference, about how she transformed the Angel conference into a fully-online event in response to the Covid-19 health crisis. My company, GroGuru Inc, was a finalist in the conference in 2019 and 2020, and we won the people's choice award this year, and secured funding from the event in 2019. The amazing part was that this year's event was transformed into an entirely virtual event in a SIX WEEK PERIOD! This is even more incredible considering this is one of the largest in-person Angel conferences in the country.

I am so totally blessed to be able to get to together last night with my wife and all five of my kids. Austin is training and practicing Jujitsu and MMA in Dallas, Ella is in her junior year at USC, Preston is getting ready to graduate from high school at Torrey Pines, Shea is a sophomore at Pacific Academy and Kyen is now a middle schooler! It warms my heart to have is all together. Merry Christmas everyone!

At the hotel reading book, “Breakthrough”. I read a lot of books, including novels, personal development, business and biographies. This is one of the best “business books” I’ve sever read. It is a total page turner. Scott likes to call it a playbook, and it really is a mix of life, personal development, thought processes, and best in class business practices from top entrepreneurs including two of Scott’s old bosses: and . Scott has some fantastic stories and there is always a key take away and an ‘aha’ moment. I’ve done a lot and seen a lot in life and and business and it is always gratifying to me when I can learn something new or a fresh insight. One think they hit me hard today was reading this in “Breakthrough”: “Over the years, I’ve found this to be one of the most important lessons that I have learned, both in life and in business. What has happened to you in the past matters much less than what you learned from it and how you apply that lesson going forward. What really matters is how you break through.” I love that! Thanks you Scott! Love you brother! As you might guess, I HIGHLY recommend this book.

I met and got to hear Tim O’Brian today at the Breakthrough Mastermind event. Tim is the CEO of The Personal Branding Group and the founder of Rainmaker U. Amazing talk! Wow! If you’ve never heard of him, look him up. This was THE BEST and most practical advice on personal and business branding and ‘the elevator pitch’ that I’ve ever heard.
