I chatted with 300+ freelancers after my post went viral.
Most of them at the beginning of their journey, and all of them reminded me of myself 6 years ago.
They all get spammed with overnight success stories, get-rich-quick gurus, and courses, and it makes you feel like you’re the only one struggling.
I know, because I feel the same every single day. Here’s my journey and my only advice to all of you:
Most of my life:
* I was never the most athletic one
* I was never one of the cool kids
* I was never the smartest one
* I was never the best looking one
* I was never the eloquent one
The one thing I’ve always had is patience and discipline. Once I bite into something, I hold on and don’t let go. I can grind for years like a robot. I don’t chase shiny new things. I adjust course and trust my intuition, but I don’t start a new company every year.
* In 2019 I realized I could charge decent money for branding
* In 2020 I realized I could add other marketing services and charge monthly
* In 2021 the team started to grow
* In 2022 We niched down on dentists
* In 2026 We’re still playing the same game
There were periods where I had to deliver food, periods where I burned through all my personal savings, periods where I had to let people go, periods where I wanted to quit and teach other people how to do it instead. 🤣
And yet I didn’t.
If something you start can cover your personal expenses within 3–6 months, stick with it and grow it. Adjust course when needed, but don’t chase the new thing.
The success stories you see from startups and influencers online are either fake or the rare 1%. You have better odds doing something “boring” for a long, long time.
