Although May is a celebrated time to speak out, share stories and debunk myths about Asian communities, it's not the only time to stand up for Asian culture or diversity.

"Our history is also filled with incredible stories of resilience, of persistence, of determination, to fight for our basic rights," Cynthia Choi, co-executive director of Chinese for Affirmative Action and co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate told NPR. "This is a celebration of our history, of our culture ... and all the different ways in which our community has really demonstrated that we're not only here to stay, we are a part of this fabric — a part of this country."

Consider a 72-hour list as a delayed gratification shopping list. Here’s how you can simply do it:
✅Write down your wants then wait three days.
If you still want the item, go and buy it. But, if you’ve realized that the item isn’t what you want or need right now, remove it from the list.

This practice really helps to curb impulse purchases because of a certain emotion. It may seem like a hassle at first. But don’t give up on this! Once you form this new habit, you’ll be able to adopt and definitely save more money for the things that matter most.

It’s often said that the fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. Between textile waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and contaminated water supplies, the fashion industry is guilty of tremendous damage to our planet.

In order to change the disastrous course of our planet, we need to start paying attention to our everyday habits, and one of the easiest ways is by Upcycling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉Upcycling takes old, used products and turns them into something new of higher quality.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Today, less than 1% of garments are upcycled, with only 20% of fabrics being recycled at all —the rest goes into landfills or gets incinerated.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Upcycling ensures the use of fewer raw materials to create a new product. It’s said that about ⅔ of a garment’s harmful impact comes at the raw materials stage. By skipping that stage and utilizing old garments, you are able to reduce the global impact on production.

Kathleen Kuo built Opus Mind with one simple mission: to empower consumers with sustainable options that ensure the health of our beautiful planet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She grew up in Belgium and had access to quality fashion that was well-made and stood the test of time. Her appreciation for mindful purchases came hand-in-hand with the love for each item, building a conscious closet full of exciting pieces. Her French upbringing installed respect for self-expression and valuing the stories behind each product.

After developing a career in fashion from Paris to Hong Kong, through Los Angeles and Shanghai, she saw the practices behind the curtains. And it was in 2017 while working for Chanel when she was personally confronted with the issue of waste, enough was enough.

She decided to lead by example and develop a line of 100% sustainable leather goods. That meant using certifiable recycled leather while hand-made in Italy to ensure the quality of each piece. The process has been streamlined so no excess and no waste is generated.
