This month, MAFH Security & Manufacturing is proud to give a special shoutout to WorldTeam USA for hosting an incredible instructor training session featuring 9th Degree Black Belt KJN Pearci Bastiany Sr. alongside champion Dylan Tripp! 🥋🏆

Under the leadership of WorldTeam USA Head Instructor Kru Sam Phimsoutham, this training session brought together experience, championship-level skill, discipline, and the continued development of martial arts instructors.

We’re excited to celebrate another San Francisco Fleet Week and honor the veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and military families who dedicate so much to protecting and serving our communities.

At MAFH, supporting our veterans and standing proudly with our active-duty service members is part of who we are. 💪🏾🇺🇸

⚓️ Bring the USS Hornet back across the Bay!

We’d love to see the historic USS Hornet tugged from Alameda to Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, or another San Francisco waterfront location, so San Franciscans and Fleet Week visitors could experience this legendary carrier from the Embarcadero promenade and throughout the city’s waterfront.

Imagine the Hornet alongside San Francisco’s skyline, surrounded by Navy ships, maritime activity, veterans, families, and thousands of Fleet Week spectators. 🌉⚓️

And of course, we’re looking forward to the skies lighting up with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels! 💙💛✈️

🏗️⚓ REIMAGINING WATERFRONT HOUSING

San Francisco has a long maritime history — and our future housing solutions can draw inspiration from it.

MAFH is exploring the possibilities of modular and container-based housing, historic ship housing, and pontoon-based maritime housing as innovative approaches to expanding affordable, workforce, transitional, and community-oriented housing opportunities along our waterfront.

Imagine repurposed shipping containers transformed into efficient modular homes. 🚢🏠
Historic vessels restored and adaptively reused for housing, cultural, or community purposes. ⚓
And floating, pontoon-based housing concepts that make thoughtful use of underutilized maritime spaces while maintaining public access to the waterfront. 🌊

These ideas aren’t about replacing traditional housing — they’re about expanding the toolbox.

With thoughtful engineering, environmental review, maritime regulations, infrastructure, and community engagement, San Francisco can explore new ways to connect housing + jobs + transportation + waterfront revitalization.

From the shipyard to the shoreline, let’s think beyond the traditional four walls.

🇺🇸 NYC MPA Field Notes → San Francisco

This slideshow is a collection of moments my team and I captured during my Labor Day weekend in New York City—and a reminder that sometimes the best way to envision what’s possible for San Francisco is to get out, observe, study, and bring the lessons home.

A few things stood out to me:
🎨 Black art & culture integrated into public spaces — our communities deserve to see themselves represented and celebrated.

🏗️ Industrial history transformed into community assets — there are opportunities to preserve our history while reimagining former industrial spaces as parks, recreation, culture, and economic development.

🌊 Waterfronts designed for people — public access, green space, recreation, and gathering places can turn underutilized areas into destinations for entire communities.

🏘️ Vibrant, culturally attuned housing — development should create places where people can actually see their culture, identity, and community reflected in the neighborhood around them.
As I head back to San Francisco, I’m bringing these observations into my MPA work and into the conversations about what we can build here—especially in District 10.

The NYC trip is over, but the analysis continues. 📚🏙️

My New York City MPA analysis over Labor Day weekend has me thinking about what we can take back to San Francisco—and what’s possible when we’re willing to reimagine our public spaces.

From Riverbank State Park, I’m reflecting on three ideas I want to see more of in San Francisco:

🎨 Highlight Black art & culture — public spaces should tell the stories and celebrate the people who make our communities what they are.

🏗️ Transform our industrial past into our public future — preserve the history while creatively converting former industrial infrastructure into parks, recreation, waterfront access, and community gathering spaces.

🏘️ Build vibrant, culturally attuned housing — housing shouldn’t just be buildings. It should reflect the people, culture, history, and needs of the communities who call it home.

That’s the kind of public administration analysis I’m bringing back with me: learn from what works, understand the history, and adapt it for San Francisco.

Tomorrow morning, I’ll be back in front of the camera for a recorded candidate statement with SFGovTV and the League of Women Voters of San Francisco. Looking forward to sharing more about the vision for District 10.

🌿🏙️ WHAT IF SAN FRANCISCO REIMAGINED WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE?

MAFH took a walk through NYC’s High Line — a former elevated rail line transformed into one of the city’s most incredible public parks.

🚆 Old tracks became part of the landscape.
🌱 Nature reclaimed the infrastructure.
💧 Wetlands became gathering spaces.
🎨 Black art and public installations line the path.
🏙️ Futuristic architecture rises alongside historic infrastructure.
🦋 Butterflies, crickets, trees, and native plants thrive above the city.

And thousands of people experience it every day.
That’s public administration with imagination.

Infrastructure that sat deteriorating for decades was transformed into a destination, supported by nonprofit stewardship, horticulture volunteers, park staff, rangers, public access points, and thoughtful design.

Walking through it had me thinking about San Francisco. 🌉
What abandoned industrial spaces could become parks?
What inaccessible corridors could become elevated walking and bike paths?
Where could we create more seating, gardens, public art, wetlands, and places for families to gather?

Sometimes the best public policy begins with looking at something everyone else sees as obsolete and asking:
“What could this become?”

The High Line is a reminder that a bold idea can become a real place — and a real place can transform how people experience their city.

Let’s reimagine San Francisco. 🌱🌉

🌿🏙️ PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN ACTION: FROM ABANDONED RAIL LINE TO WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC SPACE

While in New York City, MAFH Security took a walkthrough of the High Line — an incredible example of what can happen when government, nonprofits, designers, community advocates, and the public come together around a creative idea.

The High Line is a former elevated freight rail line that sat largely unused and deteriorating for decades before being transformed into one of Manhattan’s most unique public parks. What was once infrastructure headed toward demolition is now a destination that attracts thousands of visitors every day.

And walking through it, you can see why. 👀🌱

The original rail tracks are still incorporated throughout the park, surrounded by flourishing trees, grasses, flowers, and unique plant life. There are recreated wetland environments, seating areas with flowing water underneath, dedicated access points connecting the park to the surrounding neighborhoods, and staff and volunteers helping maintain the landscape and educate visitors.

And then there’s the art. 🎨✊🏽

Along the route are incredible displays of Black art, murals, sculptures, and public installations, integrated directly into the urban landscape.

The architecture surrounding the High Line is just as fascinating — including some futuristic, almost Jetsons-style buildings that create an incredible contrast between historic infrastructure, nature, art, and modern development.

You can literally hear crickets, see butterflies, experience dozens of species of plants, and look out over breathtaking views of Manhattan and New Jersey — all while walking on infrastructure that was once considered obsolete.
San Francisco has enormous amounts of former industrial, transportation, waterfront, and inaccessible infrastructure that could be transformed into parks, elevated walking paths, bike connections, public gathering spaces, art corridors, and new recreational destinations.

🥋🌎 HAPPY INTERNATIONAL TAEKWONDO DAY! 🌎🥋

Today, September 4, we celebrate Taekwondo and its incredible journey from Korean martial arts tradition to a global martial art practiced by millions. September 4, 1994, marked a historic moment when the International Olympic Committee accepted Taekwondo as an official Olympic sport, paving the way for its full Olympic debut at the Sydney 2000 Games.
But for MAFH Security, Taekwondo and martial arts aren’t simply something we celebrate — they are part of our family DNA. 🥋❤️

MAFH CEO Pearci “PJ” Bastiany III is a 1st Degree Black Belt, earning his Black Belt through the Ernie Reyes’ West Coast World Martial Arts (WCWMA) family in 2019.

His martial arts journey began at just 6 years old, growing up surrounded by some of the greatest martial artists and mentors in his life:

🥋 Father: KJN Pearci Bastiany Sr. — 9th Degree Black Belt, WCWMA
🥋 Two Uncles: Senior Black Belts & Master Instructors within the WCWMA family
🥋 Grandmasters: KJN Ernie Reyes & KJN Tony Thompson
🥋 And an entire village of WCWMA Black Belts, instructors, teammates, and mentors who helped shape PJ’s journey from a young student into a Black Belt.

That village taught lessons that went far beyond kicks, punches, forms, and sparring.
Discipline. Respect. Perseverance. Humility. Leadership. Service.

Those principles became the foundation for the Black Belt mindset that PJ carries into MAFH today.

From martial arts training → to security → to protecting events, communities, and people — the mission remains the same: use martial arts to make people stronger, safer, and more prepared.

MAFH exists because we believe the martial arts community has something powerful to contribute to the world.

A Black Belt isn’t just a rank. It’s a responsibility. 🥋

Today, we honor every instructor, Master, Grandmaster, parent, teammate, and mentor who pours into the next generation.

SECURITY AT THE R&B TOUR FINALE 🥋🛡️🎶

Tuesday, September 1, 2026 — MAFH Security was on deck at Levi’s Stadium for the FINAL stop of the R&B Tour featuring Chris Brown & Usher! 🔥

For this show, our position was stage center front, stationed at one of the most critical access points — right next to the gate responsible for the movement of the background dancers on and off stage.

It takes focus, awareness, communication, and professionalism to protect the production while allowing the show to flow seamlessly. And what a show it was! 🎤🔥

👏🏽 INCREDIBLE performances by Chris Brown & Usher!

Huge shoutout to both artists, their production teams, stage crews, dancers, security teams, and EVERYONE behind the scenes who came together to deliver a safe, successful, and unforgettable final show.
