Are your businesses taking advantage of the oldest, yet most effective marketing strategy to capture more clients and increase revenues? You may be thinking that we are referring to something new and trending like TikTok, but what we will discuss today is why email marketing is still the gold standard and with 4.3 billion email users worldwide, we can see why this marketing strategy is a great way to reach your target customers.
There are three main tips for a successful email marketing campaign.
Build Your Email List
Offer something of value for free, in exchange for their email. This could include a free ebook, a how-to guide, webinars, software downloads, discount codes, gifts with purchase. You know your target audience so tailor what you offer as the opt-in freebie to that audience!
Maintain Your List
Always scrub your email list by removing subscribers who never open your emails every 6-12 months to avoid being categorized as spam.
Make sure to use segmentation strategies especially behavioral segmentation which involves grouping subscribers according to how they previously interacted with your brand.
Behavioral segments could include previous purchases, lifecycle stages and customer loyalty.
When companies create triggered email flows for specific behaviors, it allows you to send out tailored emails specific to your subscriber’s needs or interests which ensures a high click through rate and as much as 75% of email marketing ROI comes directly from segmented trigger campaigns.
Send Useful & Valuable Emails
In an extremely crowded email marketing space where hundreds of companies are vying for their subscribers attention, the only way to stand out from the masses is to offer something that your subscribers will want to click on because it either piques their interest, improves their lives, or offers something that they will want to receive such as
The importance of subject lines:
A compelling subject line will make or break your email marketing campaign. Afterall, how good is your email if it never gets opened? Here are a few times to ensure that your open rate is high.
Keep it short and sweet, 50 characters or less
Tease your customer with something enticing that will pique their interest and compel them to open your email
Make sure to take advantage of the preview text or pre-header this can be longer than the subject line. Add an explainer to the subject line or a highlight of what’s in the email.
Use odd numbers. Our brains are attracted to numbers so adding a number such as “Gain 500 email subscribers in 3 days!” email subject lines that contain numbers have a higher open rate
Always A/B test your subject line so you can figure out what works and what doesn’t work
