🚢Largest container port terminal in the Western Hemisphere

APM Terminals Los Angeles opened Pier 400 in August 2002. Today it is the largest container port terminal in the Western Hemisphere, featuring 507 acres of world-class infrastructure and 19 Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes. Strategically located in Southern California, Pier 400 provides both a logistical and undisrupted advantage for shipping lines, BCO’s, freight forwarders and the t

rucking community. Our ocean carrier customers often benefit from our sufficient capacity and do not have to wait for berth or crane availability when their ships arrive with unexpected delays, i.e. due to Asian port congestion or bad weather.

🦺 June is National Safety Month, and we are proud to celebrate it every day at Pier 400. This year, hundreds of team members from both shifts came together for Global Safety Day 2026, a powerful reminder that safety is not just a policy. It is a shared responsibility and a daily commitment.

🦭🌊 Conservation and commerce working together. We are honored to sponsor the Marine Mammal Care Center's rescue truck and operations! “Partnerships like the one we have with APM show that commerce and conservation not only can exist, but can thrive together,” said John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center. “APM’s support helps us respond faster, educate more people, and protect the marine life that makes this coast so special.”

Over the past year, the MMCC responded to more than 1,000 stranded marine mammals across Los Angeles County. Thanks to APM Terminals’ sponsorship of a rescue vehicle, the Center’s team logged over 45,000 miles rescuing and rehabilitating animals.

This June is World Ocean Month and today is World Environment Day. We're honored to celebrate these holidays today and every day!

Before container discharge can begin, the lids have to come off. 🚢

This bird's-eye drone shot captures our crane at Pier 400 lifting hatch covers (aka lids): those large, numbered steel panels that seal and protect a vessel's cargo holds during the voyage.

Once the covers are removed, our cranes can reach in and begin discharging the containers below, getting your cargo one step closer to its final destination. 📦

🏗️ We're getting your ordered items to your front door in a way that's not only faster but better for the planet!

💪🏽 Many of the goods we use every day travel thousands of miles across the ocean on a cargo ship before ever reaching your doorstep. For countless shipments, that journey includes a stop right here at APM Terminals Los Angeles Pier 400.

❤️ We are honored to support Asian Youth Center's (AYC) Emergency Food Program this Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

AYC's Emergency Food Program distributes bags of fresh groceries and nonperishable food items, as well as hygiene items and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to low-income families. They meet the AAPI community where they are by offering in-language support in Mandarin, Cantonese, and more, alongside culturally relevant foods that reflect the traditions and tastes of the families they serve.
