This customer was having drying issues, and the problem turned out to be a clogged dryer vent damper hidden up in the attic.
When lint builds up around the damper, it can get stuck closed and block airflow from escaping properly. That means:

Out of sight, out of mind
 until it becomes a dangerous problem. ⚠
This dryer vent duct became completely disconnected in the attic, and the pink insulation wrapped around it was hiding the issue the entire time. Instead of venting outside, the gas dryer was blowing hot, moisture-filled air and combustion gases directly into the attic. 😳
We located the separation, properly reconnected the ducting, and sealed the joints with fresh tape to restore safe airflow to the outside where it belongs. ✅

This was the worst clogged roof vent we’ve ever seen. 😳
The vent was packed so full of lint that the dryer was shutting itself down from excessive back pressure. Airflow was almost completely blocked, which can lead to long dry times, overheating, and a serious fire hazard.

This dryer vent termination was completely covered in lint, dust, debris—and even some spider webs. The crazy part? This vent was professionally cleaned just one year ago.
It doesn’t take long for buildup like this to come back, especially depending on usage, vent length, and conditions around the home. When the exterior vent gets clogged, airflow is restricted, your dryer works harder, and the risk of overheating (and even fire) goes way up.
In this video, we clear the blockage and restore proper airflow so the dryer can run safely and efficiently again.
Also worth noting: flex duct should only be used directly behind the dryer for the connection. Any flex duct running through the rest of the vent system should be replaced with proper rigid metal ducting. Flex lines trap lint much faster and are a common cause of clogs like this.
