GOOD. 💪

The Pittsburgh City Council just took a clear stand. In a unanimous decision, they passed legislation banning any cooperation with ICE, drawing a hard line between local governance and federal immigration enforcement.

The new law is direct. City employees and contractors are now prohibited from asking anyone about their immigration status. Police are barred from taking action based on that status alone. And ICE agents can no longer access individuals held in city custody. This is a structural shift, not symbolic, and it follows months of rising tension in the city.

Recent incidents pushed this to the edge. In December, a confrontation between ICE agents and a suspect triggered a major police response on Mount Washington. Then another arrest, carried out just across from the Pittsburgh Police Zone 3 station, raised more questions. The police chief admitted officers neither intervened nor were told to.

That vacuum is exactly what this law closes.

Local government stepping in where federal overreach created chaos. Protecting residents instead of handing them over.

EVERY city should follow their lead.
