As many of you know, we’ll soon be relocating out of state, so Earthbound Mortuary Services will be taking a pause for now.

I just wanted to sincerely thank everyone for the support, encouragement, conversations, and connections over the last year. It’s meant so much to me to be able to share my passion for death care, education, and advocacy with this community.

This is not the end of Earthbound or my work in death care, just a new chapter. I absolutely plan to continue growing in this field and hope to bring Earthbound back in the future.

In the meantime, I’m always happy to answer general questions or help point people toward resources when I can. Thank you all again for believing in me and supporting this dream. 🖤🌿

Happy Mother’s Day from Earthbound Mortuary Services 🌿

Today we honor the love, care, sacrifice, and lasting impact of mothers everywhere — including those who are no longer physically with us, but remain deeply present in our hearts and memories.

For many, today is beautiful. For others, it can be heavy. Wherever this day finds you, we hope you’re able to find a moment of peace, comfort, and connection. 💜

We only get one Earth 🌎

And just like the way we live on it matters, the way we return to it matters too.

Death care can and should be aligned with the world around us, not separate from it. That’s why I’m passionate about helping families learn about eco-conscious options that are often overlooked, such as green or conservation burial, alkaline hydrolysis, and natural organic reduction.

Every choice we make leaves an impact. Even at the end of life, we have the opportunity to give something back.

If you’re curious about eco-friendly end-of-life options or just want to learn more, I’m always here for a conversation. 💚🌱 Happy Earth Day!

If you’re not already familiar, Grave Conversations has a fascinating series of interviews (sponsored by Titan Casket) with a unique twist - they take place in a casket! ⚰️

The conversations cover all kinds of topics, but they’re all centered around death, dying, and what it means to be human. I love this concept because there really isn’t another platform where guests, especially well-known figures, are asked to sit with their mortality in such a direct and thoughtful way.

Definitely worth a watch if you’re someone who’s curious about the bigger questions - or just appreciates a meaningful, thought-provoking discussion. 💚🌌

I talk about end-of-life planning a lot, but the truth is… most people don’t reach out until something happens.

And that’s completely human!

Life is busy, and it’s not always easy to sit down and think about these things ahead of time.

One thing I like to share is that planning ahead doesn’t have to mean making every decision or paying for anything upfront.

It can be as simple as learning your options and putting your wishes in writing so your family isn’t left guessing.

If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking, “I should probably look into this at some point,” this is your reminder that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

It can start with a simple conversation.

I’m always here as a resource if and when you’re ready. 🌿💚

I’m always looking for ways to keep learning, stay connected to the industry, and hear different perspectives from others working in death care.

One of the ways I do that is by listening to podcasts. I wanted to share a few that I enjoy and find informative in case others might like them too!

I listen on Spotify, but they’re probably available on most podcast platforms.

The Cemetery Chronicles
Hosted by two friends who manage cemeteries in the Twin Cities, MN. It’s funny, honest, and full of real experiences from the cemetery side of the profession.

A Brush With Death
An educational podcast launched by the NFDA that covers a variety of topics relevant to funeral professionals.

4 Women and a Funeral
A great podcast that explores the experiences, challenges, and successes of women working in the funeral and death care profession.

The Graveyard Shift
Another podcast hosted by funeral professionals that mixes education with some humor and storytelling from the field.

If have other podcasts you enjoy, I’d love to hear them. 🎧

Today is National Funeral Director and Mortician Recognition Day ⚰️

Funeral directors do work that most people never see. They answer late night calls, step into difficult situations with calm professionalism, and care for the dead with dignity while guiding families through some of life’s hardest moments.

It takes compassion, steadiness, skill, and a deep sense of responsibility.

I’m especially grateful for the funeral directors I have had the opportunity to work beside and learn from. Your dedication to families and to this profession does not go unnoticed.

As I continue working in death care and building Earthbound Mortuary Services, my respect for this work only grows.

If a funeral director has helped your family, today is a good day to thank them. 💜

Last Friday I had a last-minute opportunity to join Lea Chitwood on Chit Chat with Lea Chitwood on AM1600 KOHI radio! 📻

My husband Jon joined me, and we had a really meaningful conversation about death care, planning ahead, and the work we’re building through Earthbound Mortuary Services.

A lot of people don’t realize how many options exist when it comes to end-of-life care, and conversations like this help bring a little more clarity and openness to a topic that most of us avoid until we’re forced into it.

Thank you to Lea for the invitation and for making space for these kinds of conversations in our community. 💚

🌟 Tune in to Chit Chat with Lea Chitwood

Join us for an engaging episode where Lea dives deep into real estate, life, and the joys of rural living in Columbia County.

Last week, we had a special guest, Earthbound Mortuary Services, sharing insights that you won’t want to miss!
