Always be away that elder abuse can happen.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of adults over the age of 60 are abused, neglected, or financially exploited. This mistreatment is called elder abuse. Abuse can happen anywhere, including in the older person’s home, a family member’s home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home.

If you think someone you know is being abused — physically, emotionally, or financially, here’s who may be able to help. Read more at nia.nih.gov/health/elder-abuse/elder-abuse -can-help

Summer storms are here. Are you ready with a good shelter location?

Summer storms are here.
Are you ready with a good shelter location?

⚠️ It is important that you know where to shelter during severe weather! It is important to have that safe place pre-determined before severe weather strikes (like right now)! Locations NOT considered safe from severe weather are mobile homes, vehicles, under an overpass, outdoors, or campers. Persons in such establishments should already have a pre-determined place to go such as a sturdy structure or storm shelter.

Best options are always in an interior room on the lowest level of your home away from windows in a well-built structure with a fixed foundation. Basements and storm shelters are always the best options but many of us do not have Basements. This is why putting as many layers between you and the outside as possible during times of severe weather is key.

Stay cool and safe.
