Networking should not feel like speed dating.

I think most people already know this but keep ending up at events that feel exactly like that anyway.

You walk in. Someone hands you a name tag. You spend the next hour having the same surface-level conversation over and over. Thirty seconds in and someone's already pitching you. You leave with a stack of cards you're never going to call and a vague sense that you just wasted your evening.

That's not networking. That's just showing up and hoping something sticks.

And the reason most people's business isn't growing from networking is because that approach doesn't actually build anything. You can't create real trust in ninety seconds. You can't build a referral relationship with someone whose last name you don't remember.

We don't call it a meeting because honestly it doesn't feel like one.

Once a month we get together for The Monthly Briefing. And the best way I can describe it is just go. Because explaining it only gets you so far.

What I can tell you is nobody is there because they have to be. Nobody is going to corner you with a pitch before you've even grabbed a seat. There are no awkward icebreakers. No referral quotas. No one making it weird.

It's just a room of people who take their business seriously sitting down with other people who take their business seriously. And when you take the pressure out of it something actually happens. Real conversations. Real follow-ups. Real business.
