Fireworks. Hot air balloons. Hundreds of guests.

Those were just a few of the ideas that crossed my desk while planning community events. They also came with conversations about permits, insurance, liability, and legal approvals that most people never see.

Community events are incredibly rewarding, but they’re also a big responsibility. After more than 20 years of planning events, I can honestly say some of the most important work happens long before the first guest arrives.

I shared one of those stories in the latest edition of Experience Talks.

If you’re planning a community event or have ever thought about hosting one, I hope you’ll give it a read. And if you ever have questions along the way, I’m always happy to help.

Subway Once Sent Me a Gift Card Just for Tweeting.

What happened when businesses first started responding to customers on social media?

It was 2009, and one simple tweet about a Subway sandwich became my first real lesson in how social media was changing customer engagement and digital marketing.

At the time, Twitter was still new, Facebook was primarily a college platform, and businesses were just beginning to communicate directly with customers online.

That small interaction changed the way I viewed marketing.

Over the next 20 years, I watched digital marketing evolve from blogs and Twitter to Instagram, AI, and everything in between. Through it all, one thing has remained true: people still do business with people they know, trust, and recommend.

I shared the full story in the latest edition of Experience Talks.

In 30 days, using only organic social media, we took a local limo company from not showing up in Google video search to ranking at the top for searches like Scottsdale limo, bachelorette party limo, and wedding limo Scottsdale.

No paid ads, no production team, and no extra spend.

Just a shift in strategy.

We focused on how customers actually search, aligned the content with real demand, and made sure every post had a purpose tied to visibility and growth.

The result led to qualified inquiries, new partnerships, and measurable business impact.

Most businesses are still treating marketing like a task instead of a growth function. Posting, checking a box, hoping something sticks.

That approach is expensive, even when it looks “free.”

If your business isn’t showing up when someone is actively looking for what you offer, that’s not a content issue. It’s a strategy gap.

That’s where we come in.

Will your social media posts show up on Google?
YES. And that’s exactly why what you post matters.

If your content isn’t built to be found, it’s not working as hard as it could be.

Trends are everywhere, but if they don’t clearly connect back to your business, they’re a distraction. They might get views, but they don’t bring in the right customers.

Instead, focus on content that helps people find you when they’re actually searching.

Because getting found means:
• more visibility
• more trust
• more customers
• real ROI

If your social media isn’t helping your business show up on Google, you’re leaving opportunities on the table.

Storytelling isn’t a trend. It’s the original strategy.

Storytelling isn’t something people are suddenly “discovering” as a clever way to market a business. It’s the oldest form of branding and communication that has ever existed.

Long before there were words on a page, long before writing tools, alphabets, or books, storytelling was how history survived. It was how knowledge was passed down. It was how people remembered where they came from, what mattered, and who they could trust.

Everything we know today exists because it was first told as a story.

History. Culture. Products. Traditions. Beliefs.

Even the origin stories behind the brands we love started the same way.

Without storytelling, most of what we recognize, buy into, or believe wouldn’t exist.

So no, storytelling isn’t a trend.

It’s been forgotten.

Somewhere along the way, we became obsessed with the bottom line. Sell faster. Scale harder. Push offers louder. And in doing that, many businesses skipped the one thing that actually creates trust.

Because people don’t support what they don’t understand.

They don’t buy from what they don’t believe in.

And they don’t stay loyal to what feels hollow.

Long before books and writing, storytelling was an honored craft. Not everyone told the stories. Certain people were entrusted with it. They were chosen, respected, and often hired to preserve the truth and meaning of what mattered.

Storytelling is a gift.

And when it’s used well, it doesn’t just sell. It connects, preserves, and builds something that lasts.

If your marketing feels like it’s not landing, it’s usually not because you need louder tactics.

It’s because your story hasn’t been told yet.

If you’re ready to stop chasing tactics and start telling a story people actually remember, this is the work I do.

I help businesses uncover, shape, and tell the story behind what they’re building so it earns trust before it ever asks for a sale.
