4 things I would do to get financially ahead at 16-18 years old part 3

I turned 27 today 🥹✨Here are 7 money lessons I’ve learned that changed my life:

1. Start investing early even if you start off small. Time is your biggest advantage in your 20s. I started with $10 and after 6 years I can’t believe my portfolio has over $100K in it. How much more in 10-30 years from now. You can see what I’m invested in the 🔗 in bio.

2. Lifestyle creep is sneaky. It’s almost a natural feeling to want to spend more when you make more. You want to dine out more, get better clothes, maybe a better car then all of a sudden it’s death by a thousand cuts. Aim to save and invest more as you earn more then with whatever is leftover ✨treat yourself✨. Don’t spend more than you make!!

3. Your 20s are for building. I sacrificed nights + weekends dedicated to this passion project. It eventually led to me quitting my 9-5 job and earning more doing what I love.

4. Automate everything. Savings, investing, autopay for credit card bills. It will probably take you less than 30 minutes to set up but you’ll experience years of peace of mind knowing your finances are in check.

5. Not every hobby should be monetized. I struggled with this one a lot and it took therapy for me to experience a breakthrough. Lately I’ve been learning to enjoy hobbies. Right now painting + journaling is just for me and it’s been very restorative!

6. Money is emotional. My parents taught me how to be frugal to survive and get by. Then I started making my own money and even with six figures, I felt guilty spending in some areas of my life and cheaped out on experiences I would have enjoyed. It’s a constant work in progress to heal my money mindset.

7. Your environment matters. Being around people with big dreams made me raise my own standards and start taking real action. A big catalyst for my journey into financial freedom was reading self development + money books and listening to on YouTube while I was working my 9-5 job at 20 years old. Who would have thought I’d end up sharing money tips online for a living too!

hope this helps 💛 follow if you want to better your financial health 🙂‍↔️💸
