Athena Executive Services

Athena Executive Services Pairing Virtual Executive Assistants with busy business owners, entrepreneurs and executives. Our clients don’t pay for more hours than they really need.

Athena Executive Services pairs Virtual Executive Assistants with business owners, entrepreneurs and executives throughout the U.S. Benefits that clients receive:

-They are delighted that they spend more of their time on where they can make the biggest difference and can have the biggest impact. They have stopped wasting time doing things that are below their pay grade.

-They have a new-found pe

ace of mind and life balance (they are getting to the gym; ending the workday at a reasonable time; attending more family events; having time to do critical thinking on their business; etc.)

-They are saving money by simply paying for the hours someone works (not benefits, not office space, not equipment, not a salary, etc.) About your virtual executive assistant:

-They are independent contractors who work from home, with their own equipment. Our clients save money, not providing office space, equipment, benefits, etc.

-They are experienced being on virtual/ remote teams and perform well in that environment. They create effective communication structures that work for you, so that you have regular updates about the work that is getting done and what has been accomplished.

-They most often support an executive 10, 20 or 30 hours per week. It’s amazing the difference that just 15 - 20 hours/week of support can make in the life of a business executive.

As AES celebrates its 10-year anniversary, people have been asking founder Gina Cotner:

“What would you tell yourself 10 years ago?”

Her answer?

You don’t have to know everything about everything to get a company going.

You just need to know enough to keep learning, enough to make the next decision, and enough to know when it’s time to ask for help.

And sometimes, especially as a founder, leader, or entrepreneur, the best advice really is:
Just keep swimming. 🤍

One of the biggest lessons our CEO, Gina Cotner says she’s learned over the last 10 years at Athena Executive Services:

Every choice comes with consequences.

As founders, leaders, and business owners, we can spend a lot of time trying to find the “perfect” solution.

But often the better question is:
Which consequences are you willing to own?

Recently, AES made a major change to how invoicing is handled. It solved old problems and created new ones too.

That’s part of growth.

There are no consequence-free choices or decisions.

One of the questions our founder, Gina Cotner, has been asked during AES’s 10-year anniversary is:

“What hasn’t changed?”

Honestly, more than you might think.

Our values.
Our vision.
Our mission.

And yes… even one very old spreadsheet that still helps us track and forecast the health of the business. 😄

But beyond the spreadsheet, two things that have remained incredibly consistent at Athena Executive Services are how we vet and screen Executive Assistants and how we build relationships with prospective clients.

The tools may evolve over time, but thoughtful executive support, strong operational systems, and human connection still matter just as much today as they did on day one.

10 years of AES today.

12 beliefs got me here. Like this one:

"You get what you inspect, not what you expect."

10 years of AES. Here are the 12 beliefs that got me here.

10 years ago, hardly anyone was using the term “Virtual Executive Assistant.”

A lot has changed since then.

The tools.
The way we work.
The expectations around remote support.

But at Athena Executive Services, one thing hasn’t changed:
great executive partnership has always been about people, trust, communication, and thoughtful support.

As we celebrate 10 years of AES, I’ve been reflecting on what’s evolved over the years and what still matters just as much today.

As Athena Executive Services reflects on 10 years of supporting executives, founders, and leadership teams, one theme keeps surfacing again and again: gratitude.

For the people.
For the relationships.
For the trust.
For the conversations, support, lessons, and moments that helped shape AES into what it is today.

In this video, our founder Gina Cotner shares a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey over the last decade. 🤍

"I don’t want to be an entrepreneur again.”

That’s what Gina told the woman who eventually pushed her to start Athena Executive Services.

Her response?
“Too bad. Get over yourself. Go do it.”

A little look back at how it all began — and the conversation that helped spark what would eventually become AES. 🎉

10 years. 🎉

AES (Athena Executive Services) is officially celebrating a decade of partnering with executives, founders, and visionaries.

All month long we're sharing the stories, the lessons, the lucky breaks, and the things we learned the hard way.

Stick around! Gina has a lot to share.
